He was to tour Oz this month.
Tour canceled .
Not confirmed, but I’m going to say mental health is the reason.

Heartbreaker used to be one of my favorite albums of all-time, but after reading that shit about him sexting the 15yr old I just can't listen anymore. Hypocritical I know since all my favorite bands have done worse, but at least they can use the lame old " things were different back then in the '70s" excuse because tbh, they were. RA should've known better, considering he was up to this shit just a few years ago...

Never got the nut-swinging for this guy?, "average and nondescript" describes every facet of him as a musician, and his songwriting.

I’ve said it on here before but early Ryan and Whiskeytown are amazing. But he would be near the top of my list of bands that have completely lost the ability to create a song. I’m not going through 4 albums looking for the maybe 1 or 2 good songs. If anybody wants to suggest the better ones, I will give them a listen.

They moved the show he played here in the fall to a much smaller venue.

The guys Instagram is so lame…he’s like a soccer mom. He had a post where he showed his new haircut and said something like “I cut my own hair with the same scissors I open my comic with

For years I thought people meant to say Bryan Adam's. Took me years to realize it's a different guy.

So...he's a pop star with no hits. Right? Just releases tons of material?

"Pop"...no, his genre is "roots rock" (which are "artists" or bands not energetic enough to be considered rock, and/or not musically well-versed enough to be considered country, and in both cases, also lack the ability to write a "hook").

Essentially the kind of meandering, self indulgent singer/songwriter bullshit you can find at any College Town, Coffee House open mic.

Yes. This is about right except he's released 29+ records. Many to critical acclaim and sales.

Even in a Ryan adams thread KISS had to be mentioned.

Isn't Chip Z'hoy a big fan of Ryan?

Were you the guy in the crowd asking him to play summer of 69?

I’m sure most of the crowd would prefer him play that song over his 29 albums of material that no one has heard.

I had listened to most of Star Sign before I realized he had 3 more out right then. None of them blew me away, but I can say is that at least he made them a sound different.

I'll admit I've enjoyed his take on the Oasis and Springsteen albums ove the last couple years. He needs someone to tell him to just stop for a while until he can release something good again.

I've found that a lot of his stuff are growers. It takes time to realize their merits.
Wow that you dig the Oasis and Springsteen stuff. The concensus on those and the Dylan have been less than favorable.

It took you YEARS to figure this out. As in 365 days multiplied. For years, you ignored spelling and context clues. You thought it was some kind of mass psychosis making everyone call him "Ryan" and joke about how he's not Bryan Adams.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

As far the new Ryan Adams albums, I listened to a song or two of each of them and thought they were terrible.

I've liked a song here and there but the last album of his I loved was probably Jacksonville City Nights, almost 20 years ago.

I really liked the song "I'm Sorry and I Love You" from just after the dick-wagging allegations.

JCN and Cold Roses were great albums ( both came out in 2005 ) but you are right, things went downhill pretty fast from those albums on.

The S/T and Prisoner is the best 1 two punch in his catalog and shouldn't be overlooked by you two.

I agree, I’m also a big fan of the 1989 cover album.

As I type I should have been lining up to see him in Melbourne, but he cancelled the tour.
Sadly, I think he’s not long for this world.
