That was badass, and those detuner things he had on the tuning pegs were badass, too. I've never seen those before.

I have. They were developed back in the 90s by an instrument maker whose name I forget in partnership with the jazz bassist named Michael Manring. You could flick a switch like he does in this video and change the tuning of the chair before strings. That meant dozens of different configurations. Not only that but the bass was fretless.

Didn’t think it could be done but dude nailed it! Loved that look on his face the first time he dropped the strings down. Ya knew then he was going to kick ass.
