One of those bands that I just don't get?, the first 4 albums are all forgettable filler, Sweet has an annoying voice, and the whole image/gimmick was lame.

IMO, they made a little improvement when they tried to go in a more pop metal (Slaughter/Firehouse) direction with 1990's "Against The Law", but otherwise Stryper sucks (and blows).

I like the song "Surrender". Other than that, not much. I've given them a chance, here and there, on streaming and it didn't click. Their hit "Honestly" is cheesy garbage.

Huge fan since 1985 Also love Michael Sweets solo stuff. They just always deliver.
I dont get people that hate the lyrics but then worship Slayer or Venom. I m for sure not a religious person but I prefer a positive massage. Saw them 3 times last year and they deliver every night

Today they sound better than any of the other Dokken, Motley etc bands

Pretty much as soon as I found out about them, which was late middle school/early high school about ‘96-‘97 or shortly after.

I've always considered them in the same boat as Twisted Sister, what with the goofy yellow/black & the religious gimmick. Also, like TS, the songs aren't good to my ears.
However, I did just see they are doing an acoustic tour & I thought Michael Sweet was good in Boston. So, if I go to that show & like it, that will be the day I become a Stryper fan, maybe.

Terrible band. And the entire Jesus thing was a gimmick.

I remember the drummer in my band in high school listened to them. His parents were super religious, so it was OK for him to blast it in the house.

I'm only familiar with all the stuff up to (and including) "Against the Law" and there is a lot of cool songs on those albums, and some crap too.

I’ve been a fan since “Soldiers Under Command”, even before I gave my life to Jesus. The religious lyrics never bugged me at all. And they still bring it live, big time.
