The Verve Pipe - "The Freshman"

Something about this pretentious song always bugged the royal fuck out of me.

The lead singer/band/song has that "college town open mic vibe", in that the overall product is not nearly as deep/creative/insightful/soulful/etc., as they think it is.

Same.

“Closing Time” always annoyed the shit out of me.

I’m tempted to put “In The Meantime” by Spacehog but a lot of people swear by that band so they might deserve another look.

Amazed we’re a few posts in and “Tubthumping” hasn’t been mentioned yet.

Blink 182 are one of few bands that I actively dislike, so all of their 90s hits make the list.

I love Sublime but never been a fan of “What I Got”. Probably just way too overplayed.

I could do without “Song #2” and I’m glad there’s not a “Song #3”.

Was given that Spacehog CD. In the Meantime is the only listenable track on it. Terrible band.

I didn't like that song at the time, and liked it even less when I became old enough to drink in bars, but once I found out he wrote it about his kid that was about to be born, I softened on it a little. "Clever" would be a stretch, but the lyrics in that context are a little more interesting.

"Touch Peel Stand" by Days of The Tired

"Thank U" by Alanis Morrisette (although she has probably ten more just as bad)

The Spit Me Out song by Collective Soul (I'm sure Derpyfilth likes it, so that makes it awful)

This is my #1 pick. I can't think of a worse song from the 90's.

I don't even think the Butthole Surfers like it. Which is kind of incredible, that the Butthole Surfers made a song so bad, even they don't want to listen to it.

(I love the Butthole Surfers, btw.)

“Walking One The Sun” - was kinda cool in, but was run into the FM pavement.

Yup. Apparently they wrote it to make fun of Beck -

Or, if we’re sticking with VH1 mom jeans rock, how about that Del Amitri song?

Same here. Sounds like a really bad Nirvana song, but with a low talent outside writer providing the lyrics.

I don't know if it's the worst, but "Little Things" by Bush. Most of their songs have the most nonsensical lyrics of any band I've ever heard, but this one tops them all.

"The cupboard is empty, we really need food
Summer is winter and you always knew...:

Such depth...
