Is the hate for Priest’s Turbo really justified??

It’s a damn good record. I’ve heard the complaints… some valid… but let’s not go overboard.

Locked In alone is criminally underrated.

i love Out in the Cold

WNHACD and Private Property are also good.
Turbo Lover too, but not as legendary as other (quasi, in this case) title tracks by Priest

RYAATW and Parental Guidance are the two biggest black marks on Priest's entire legacy

The rest is alright.

I rank it similarly to Ram It Down, but maybe a step below.

It sat in my car cassette deck all summer the year it came out, so I'm a fan for those memories alone. Parental Guidance is a swing & miss (as is RYAATW as Huey mentioned) but there's great stuff on Turbo and the production is glorious.

That was a time when established bands were swinging for MTV fame. But, by that point, Priest were older than the up and coming hair bands. No one really wanted to see a bunch of old guys prancing around the stage with hairspray and new sing-songy choruses. That being said, I thought Turbo Lover was an interesting experimental song for them and Out in the Cold had an awesome Rob Halford voice track.

Priest always had a mix of clunkers and great songs on every album - They're more of a song band to me than an album band.

SFV has exactly zero 'clunkers'.

I was 12 when it came out & I loved 'Parental Guidance' when I saw it on MTV. I remember really liking Turbo & Priest...Live. Both of those cassettes got played a lot by me back then.

Following SFV and DotF was probably an issue.
Going from balls out, macho metal to keyboard drenched songs was a shock to all lot of those fans

Turbo is a good album, and certainly not the worst.

Priest Live is really good (apart from the aforementioned PG and RYAATW), and it's too bad it was released at a weird time with a weird cover, it deserves more love than it gets... and it's kind of cool they took a page out of Kiss Alive II, and didnt repeat songs from the first live album.

Devil’s Child. But still easily the best Priest album.

And Turbo is the last great Priest album. Only one I’d prob skip is Wild Days and Crazy Nights or whatever that is.

Damn I love me some Devil's Child. I like the call & response parts. 'Vicious Talkin'. Vicious talkin'. That song just hits me in the right places.

After wearing out SFV & DotF, I hated this album so much that I never bothered buying anything else from them afterwards. Trend-jumping hair-metal garbage..

This. They were a year too late. And their ponce singer shouldve never gone near SAW.

Sorry, but Fever is the clunker. Probably one of the first lame 'Fire' and 'Desire' lyric rhyming.

It’s a great record… OK, a good one. Bold for them, and appropriate for the times. The only people I know who don’t like it are the heavier/faster true metal meatheads whom feel threatened by anything melodic and argue that Painkiller is the best metal record of all time.

Painkiller fucking sucks.

And it’s arguably not metal but thrash.

It’s Priest pretending to be something they’re not to try to stay relevant.

Garbage! Chains is not only the best song on the album but one of the best songs they ever did!

Devil’s Child wouldn’t be top 30.
