Interesting... I missed this post... but just stumbled across a few recent clip on YT with Sublime with Jakob singing... WOW!

Was not aware of this, or these recent developments over the last 8-10 months, but I have to say, the kid DEF got his Dad's skills. His voice is very eerie, in the way that he sounds just like his Dad. As did Rome, but obviously it's different with Jakob being his Son.

I was at a Warped Tour show in 1996 in So. Calif. watching skaters on the half-pipe and in the background was music, with various bands. At some point that day, I recall 1 of the bands being on stage (maybe The Mighty Mighty Boss Tones) and the singer said: "This one goes out to Bradley & Sublime... he crashed hard recently...we lost our brother." etc...

Pretty sure this was the show... > https://www.concertarchives.org/concert ... -tour-1996

At the time I was not at all into Sublime, only had heard their name a bit, but soon after I started hearing them on KROQ non-stop so I went and bought the record "Sublime" which was released a few short months after Bradley OD'd.

Over the next few years, I listened to that CD as much as anything, and heard it endlessly at all the skate-parks. Somehow I felt a weird connection to the band, their music and couldn't stop thinking about how the record was blowing up, selling like crazy, and all the success that followed... but could not get it out of my head, that Bradley wasn't there for any of it.

And... he was a new Father, with a baby, who wasn't even a year old yet.

Over the last 25+ years, whenever I hear Sublime, it takes me back to that period of my life... and it makes me think some more.

Now... tonight, I stumble across this young kid singing Sublime on YT, and I was like; "Holy F#@k, he sounds JUST LIKE BRAD!" and before I had even looked at the title, or any of the description... listening more, and then reading... I find out it is Bradley's son, all grown up and I am now listening to some clips. an interview, etc...

Crazy to think... but the kid admits having serious drug and alcohol problems, but is now sober, or so he says.

In this interview he said something like; "I needed to know why my Dad went down that path. He never came back, but I wanted to explore, and see why he went there..."

Pretty dark stuff... hopefully he keeps it together and doesn't follow Dad's path too much!

I knew it sold a lot, but just searched and it says that ST release sold more than 6 million copies! NUTS!

Good for the kid, but his Dad was the fattest dead junkie ever.

Also, their music sucked.

Fat?

Are you thinking about the same guy? Bradley was not Iggy Pop, but he was far being "Fat"

As for their music, well... opinions vary, but more than 5M people bought their "ST" release.

Sublime was so big back in the day but I don’t think the boy fronting the band is going to make any dent. Strictly a small nostalgia act.

Festivals/arenas/sheds…it could be worse.
