I think MS is a great guitarist, but the songs I just can’t get in to.
Bon Jovi used to be a good singer/frontman.
Scorpions always kick ass.
Coverdale needs to quit grabbing his junk.
Anvil are a guilty pleasure.

Yes I did. Anvil at least had some apparent talent...

Drummer could’ve played with any band.
Poor broke fucker decided to stay loyal to Lips instead.
Not sure if I admire that or think he’s a dumbass.

This pops up here every once in a while, and always great to watch.

Same with the Rockpop 1983 show with DL, Ozzy, Krokus, Maiden, Priest, Scorpions, QR.

Will watch both those shows a couple times a year.

That did NOT respect haiku etiquette! Let me fix that for you:

Drummer chose wrong gig
Playing in Anvil was dumb
Judging him is hard

The Schenk is one of the all-time greats!

This track listing on here is weaksauce tho. They should have gone with Armed and Ready and like, Assault Attack or something.

Also: Whoodafuk is that asshammer singing? I am not used to seeing somebody even more ridiculous that Gary Barden with Schenker.

That Teutonic twat might as well have that flying V stuck up his butt and play it with his feet for all the good it does him. And the Asshammer is dead now so rest easy...

That video left off this Bon Jovi song from their set. I know it's a cover, but I've always liked this song.

I was big into metal in 1984..don't remember MSG being more popular than the Scorps...I mean, this was at the height of popularity for them...
MSG must have been more popular in Japan for them to headline...

Not possible. Michael Schenker can play guitar. Has never written a good song.

Had to look it up but it's Ray Kennedy who did the last part of the 1984 tour.
He also debuted in 1965 and was 38 at the time of this show, almost 10 years older than Schenker.

I feel like I could put one good record together from Schenker's solo stuff (before McAuley). Hmm...

Side 1:
Captain Nemo
Armed and Ready
On and On
Rock My Nights Away
Rock Will Never Die

Side 2:
Assault Attack
Rock You to the Ground
Desert Song
Broken Promises
Ready to Rock

I even made a Spotify list...

The first three are all pretty great. After that it gets hit and miss but most have a stellar tune or two. Anybody that says he's never written a good song is, ahem, playing a character or hasn't really listened to his discography in depth...

He suffers from shitty/cheap production a lot. Even from the list I posted, there are a few I think are great songs, but just sound shitty or have questionable isntrumentation.

I will stand by the assertion, for instance, that Rock My Nights Away is danged good, but whoever made the decision to put the main riff on keyboards and give the the song an overall weak pop production should have bad things done to them.

The studio version of Captain Nemo is kind of MEH as well. The versions of both from the live at hammersmith record are much better.

As influential as he was, the Schenk never did it for me. He is also a lousy band leader. A bonafide shit show
