I bought a deluxe 2-CD version ten years ago, disc 2 has the LA Forum show, which is great.

This version is a bit too much, that Dortmund show only has a short set and I don't feel the need to listen to anything beyond that 11th song song I've never heard before.

That atmos version might be interesting. I'll have to get a new sound system though.

Fully agree with all of this - except that Leppard killed it at Dortmund and I would like to have a full soundboard or video of that show. They played a 17 song headlining set there according to Setlist.fm. Ditto Judas Priest, one of their best sounding shows ever and only 6 or 7 songs out of 14 are out there. I had an audience recording of that Priest show 20+ years ago but lost it when a hard drive crashed. Anybody got it?

$100 is a pretty good price. And for $115, you can get it with a t-shirt that they're trying to get $35 for alone.

Will definitely consider just for the Atmos version. (then after laying out the $$ & getting the disc Apple Music streams it in Atmos)

Looks similar to the Whitesnake Boxed Sets Coverdale has been putting out the last few years. Seems like everyone is emptying out the closets for content.

Not saying that's a bad thing, but 100 bucks is way too high for this, especially when those Whitesnake sets go for between 60 and 80, depending on if it's on sale or not.

I think you're right it being a bit too much. The rarities you might listen to only once or twice out of curiosity can probably found online. You already have the two discs that matter.

I concur. It was the same with the kiss destroyer box set.

The creatures of the night box set was better

Maybe I’m wrong, but seeing as that he is on the whole album, except for a few solos here and there, I’d say he’s on the all the demos

The Metallica box sets have all been around $230-$250. Right now you can get the Metallica Black Album box set on their website for $239 and it comes with:

"Limited edition deluxe numbered box set (with magnetic flap) of Metallica (Remastered) includes the album remastered on 180-gram double LP and CD, "Sad But True" picture disc, three live LPs, 14 CDs and six DVDs featuring unreleased content (live shows, rough mixes, demos, etc), MP3 download card of vinyl audio, four tour laminates, lanyard, three lithos, three guitar picks, lyric folder and sheets, and a 120-page hardcover book with never-before-seen photos + stories from those who were there."

So this Def Leppard box set is a 4 CDs and a Blu-Ray of some audio for $100. So yeah, that's way too much, especially since the Forum show was included with the 30th anniversary and is already available. Plus how many times does the same record need to be remastered? Is this a remaster of the remaster? The rough mixes and demos sound great but that's really all I'm interested in.

I got all the Sabbath box sets and I'm certain I never paid over $100 for any of them. And those are all like 5 or 6 vinyl records, not even CD's.

$100 for 4 Def Leppard CD's and a Blu-ray is nutso.

I don't buy a lot of special edition's like this, but considering I still have the original CD I bought way back when, it made sense for me to pre-order it. I'm actually really looking forward to getting it.

Bands like The Cult and Whitesnake did a great job with their box sets. I pre-ordered the Rare Cult box set when it first came available and now you can't touch that box set for under $250. Savatage's Ultimate box set was interesting, but that is going for insane money. The Guns N Roses box sets aren't cheap either, UYI I & II Super Deluxe Edition is over $250 [it's 7 CD's and a Blu Ray] for the CD version and $500 for the 12 LP vinyl version. Or you can get the The Appetite For Destruction: Locked N’ Loaded box for almost $1000.

I wish these bands would have dug into their vaults decades ago and released this stuff then. Media was still a thing and those bands from the 70's, 80's and 90's could have made some decent money from those sales. If Van Halen would have released a killer 1984 box back in the 90's, it would have sold very well. These days it's not worth it to put it out. People are getting away from buying media these days and the cost of production just isn't worth it anymore.

Yep, you're right. I listened to some of the Atmos mix on Apple this weekend. Little less 'aggressive' than I would have expected, which normally I'd view as a good thing. Not overdone. I only listened to Photograph & Too Late For Love. Too Late does a really cool use of the height speakers with that whole intro kinda spinning around like you're about to ride Space Mountain. Wonder if the Atmos mix on the release will be the same? Probably, but maybe mixed by a different guy?

The guitars and drums sound better, but the lack of the backing vocals in the chorus ("I don't want your . . .") create some noticeable dead space.
