15 ‘Farewell’ Tours That Didn’t Stick-RS MAG

KISS- “Final” Show or Tour: Farewell Tour, Carrara Stadium, Gold Coast, Australia; 2001

What They Said Then: “There just aren’t any more mountains to climb. We want to go out in style with the people that put us here, the fans.” —Gene Simmons, 2000

Years Until Next Tour: One

Explanation: “People change their minds, and in this case that goes along with being a living, thinking person. What one says one day with total commitment may at another time turn out not to be so. Am I doing this for the money or the fans? Both, and let’s not forget I’m doing this for me.” —Paul Stanley, 2002

it is funny how most of the "Farewells" only last 2 to 5 years.

They forgot The Scorpions. That one really pissed me off and I have not seen them since. Not sure why I was so mad. I'll probably go see them in Vegas as I want to see all of Love At First Sting. Plus there are tickets for cheap on Goldstar.

Cream hardly counts. In that case you might as well say Zeppelin for Live Aid then London 2007.

Sabbath's 2x 2005 Reunion shows in Birmingham were promoted as if they were a one-off, last ever event, then they announced a big US run straight after.

Hardly likely to make Rolling Stone's list, but The Almighty and The Wildhearts. I saw the former in 1995/6, the latter have had several - not billed as such, but Ginger subsequently said "no more". Until he changed his mind.

To be fair, he was told he had only a few months to live, then got a miracle cure.

I wish Lemmy had the same.

I will never stop laughing at how personally some people take this sort of thing.

Douche move? Yes. Something to endlessly whine and cry and pearl-clutch about? Hilarious.

Yes, I saw one gig on that tour, it was memorable. People were offering crazy money at the door for a ticket. I'm glad he got a few years more.

Let's proactively add Foreigner to the list. Like somebody with the rights to the name won't eventually replace Scab Version #1 with Scab Version #2.
