Steaming new album more like it. Fuck Scott Travis is a horrible sterile drummer, that annoying clicky clacky double kick on every song just for the sake of making noise is really irritating.

I’m really digging it. For guys at this stage in their career, this is way, way better than it could be.

It's so good. SO FUCKIN' GOOD!

I'm not really much of a Priest fan but this album is beyond great. Instant classic!

I'm ordering the CD for use in my work shop stereo. Fuck ads and streaming bullshit with music like this.

Is it up there with KKs Priest? They kick ass live from the YouTube clips.

An absolutely amazing release for any band, let alone a veteran band. Heavy moments, melodic moments… a very diverse record; well played and produced, with Halford in fine voice (admittedly with “help” I’m sure). Fans from every era can enjoy this record. 8.5/10

PS - blows KK’s Priest away. THAT was generic, fast/heavy for the sake of fast/heavy, paint by numbers metal.

Really digging Devil in Disguise.

I wonder how present Glenn is on the recording, esp. in terms of solos, or if he's just contributing ideas and RF is doing all the recording... IIRC they would credit solos right in the middle of the lyric sheets on previous albums (or maybe they stopped that after KK bailed?)

Bladdermouth gave the album 9/10, which is pretty rare. Much better than any recent Maiden, a shame their career doesn't match theirs.

EDIT: I'm hearing certain hints of Glenn in some solos...glad he's at least contributing some guits.

I'd give it a 7/10. It is a very Judas Priest album.

Wouldn't that be great if Halford's Priest and KK's Priest were on the same bill? They could agree to not play any of the same songs. What a night that would be!

In a perfect world, they would open for Les Binks' Priesthood and Sinner Owens would be banned from ever singing any Priest song not from Jugulator or Demolition.

Maybe you're right. I definitely hear GT type phrasing in some solo areas, but maybe RF is just really good at incorporating his licks/tricks/runs/feel/etc... read this on Bladdermouth:

Asked where Glenn's soloing pops up on "Invincible Shield", Richie said: "Glenn's influence is more than just the solos. There are solos on 'Sons Of Thunder' and 'Vicious Circle', and it goes beyond that. As we said before, the little twists and turns musically… and the vibe. When you play songs and solos by both K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton on an intimate level for 13 years, I don't think you can help but have that become part of your DNA, as well, so I think you can hear stuff from Glenn in my playing as well as what I've learned from him in the last 13 years. On something like 'Panic Attack', there are some sweep picking stuff that was never part of my repertoire. Playing songs like 'Painkiller' on an intimate level becomes part of your repertoire, so it shows up on the record. So apart from the songwriting ideas he had, the songs he had, some of the solos he had, it's in my playing as well. He's infiltrated my DNA in that sense — along with Ken [K.K.], of course, and along with Zakk [Wylde] and Michael Schenker and people like that. I think [Glenn's] influence can't be overstated either."

A nice tapdance around a straight answer!

Damn this is a great album. Probably the best thing a classic heavy-metal band has done since the beginning of the millennium.

Halford truly is a god. Pointing at "studio tricks" is dumb, because Sneap's control board surely isn't making up those vocal lines. And bands with equal/more money and the same technology (hello Metallica) can't come up with what old Bob does here. Holy crap PRAISE THE PRIEST.

Have you heard Halford live lately??
Or course it's studio magic...they're doing it right so you don't hear and realize it...
I'm sure he did short sessions and they pieced it together line by line along with using autotune correctly (meaning you don't realize it's being used; that was the intent of the guy that created it)
And there's nothing wrong with that for recording to make it sound as best as possible...
But you're clueless about how a studio works if you think Rob just went in and belted out perfectly with the assistance of 'studio tricks'

I agree Panic Attack is amazing. I've listened to this album a dozen times over the past few days - truly amazing.

Is Sneap credited for playing any solos? He’s been playing Glenn’s stuff live for years so he would naturally use his licks in the studio.

He hasnt been.

Richie plays all of the KK and almost all of the Glenn solos live, since the G-man left. Sneapy gets to do about 5% of the soloing.

We mean the same thing. Recording how the big acts have been doing it for decades. Not some magical new AI-trick.

It about the best I could expect from priest at their age. I don't hate anything on it. But it is pretty mediocre. No real stand outs. All fairly cliche. None of these songs will be considered priest classics down the line. Just like firepower.
