Interesting poll with interesting results.

Seems like the majority of people here (as expected) are people who were in high school during the heydey of 80s rock, etc. But there's a second contingent of guys who are probably from the first era that was in their "waste time on the internet" phase when Metal Sludge was first a thing, like myself.

Here in the NL it's a bit different. After primary school (age 12) you go to a school best suited to your intelligence. Depending to which level school you go it will be 3 to 6 years...

Same.. had a group of friends heavily into a lot of this stuff. GnR/Aerosmith (obviously from my name here) was our shit. It's weird to think that Permanent Vacation by Aerosmith when I graduated is the equivalent to me listening Bringing Low by Flo Rida now. Time warps your mind/perception.

When Lee and I were at school, you did exams at 16 - O (ordinary) Levels or GCSEs, depending your age, as they changed the name in '88 - then you could either stay on until 18 and take A (advance) Level exams, or go to college for 2 years on a more vocational course, or leave and try to get a job. Now you have to stay in some sort of full time education until 18, though that can include apprenticeships which are 4 days working and 1 day college.

General exams (GCSEs these days, O-levels when I was there) are at 16, those who wish to stay on for A-levels finish at 18.

In the 90's and we moved the summer right before freshman year so I started high school in a new school not knowing anyone!

The town we were in was a "cool" town. Everyone grew up too fast. There was beer/booze, parties, rock & roll, kissing and fucking, all good. The town we moved to was like the twilight zone. I showed up in my ripped jeans and Guns n Roses shirt.
All the guys were wearing baggy jeans, sports/team shirts and baseball hats to class which was unheard of in my previous town.

And yes...the day came where I was wearing a Winger shirt and some dude called me Stewart. I thought he was saying I looked like Rod Stewart.
