Excellent year for rock. My 3 faves were:
1. Smashed Gladys
2. Mindcrime
3. Bullet Boys
It's hard for me to get used to these changing times. I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty.

An album from 88 by a legendary hard rock group hasn't been mentioned yet... because it was fucking awful.

I always think of 1988 as the commercial peak of hair metal.

If you want an exact date: September 23, when it was half of the Billboard Top 10.
https://www.billboard.com/charts/billbo ... 988-09-23/

That week was also notable for looking ahead to the future with "...And Justice for All" debuting at #35.

Cheap Trick - Lap of Luxury

Not their greatest effort, but put them back on the map and gave those of us who were too young for Budokan a 2nd chance to see'em.

A bunch of other hair metal, hard rock, and thrash in the top 200 as well: Winger, Europe, Hurricane, Testament, Overkill, Aero’s PV, Operation: Mindcrime, Maiden’s Seventh Son…, King Diamond, Impellitteri’s Stand in Line, Nuclear Assault, etc. Plus Pyromania somehow reentered the top 200. Great time to be a hard rock/metal fan.

Nah, they’d upgrade their $6.99 Radio Shack microphones if they actually wanted anyone to listen to their show.

I don’t know how the fuck audio can sound that bad in 2024. Use a fuckin iPhone maybe, it has a better microphone as standard.

And the bloody audio clipping and the songs mixed in twice as loud as the voice … amateur hour.
