Ha. That's one of my favourite music genres. Plenty of great bands there. 😎

I was a teenager in Britain in that era. The only two bands I can stomach are suede and blur.

Great band! I'm a Greatest Hits guy when it comes to The Doors but they had a unique sound and Jim's voice and lyrics were amazing. His vocal on "Touch Me" is insane. Especially the "Now I'm gonna love till the heaven's stop the rain" part...

Great movie, too! I was about to write RIP Val Kilmer but it turns out he's still alive. My God...that documentary broke my heart, man.

I knew it would be that song before I clicked on the link. It is one of the better of the era.

"Common People" is Pulp's best song, IMO. "She came from Greece, she had a thirst for knowledge. She studied sculpture at St. Martin's College..."

Sleek wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 11:12 am I mean, people go saying this hipster nonsense all of the time...but back it up.

If Morrison was average, then it follows that he must have a huge number of peers doing his thing at his skill level.

Who were they?
Not necessarily. If there are some people better than you at something (Jagger, Daltrey, Plant, Davies, Winwood, McCartney, etc.) and some worse than you (Dylan, Young, Fogerty, Garcia, Waters, etc.) you are average.

Hipster nonsense? Nothing screams "hipster" more than a Morrison nutswinger.

Damn, totally like that Pulp song.

And Ship of Fools by the Doors for the win.
