Questions about W.A.S.P - Helldorado album

Post by Psychobolia.com »

I've never listened to this entire album, is it worth hearing or am I better off opening my windows and enjoying the ambient noise from my street...?

The latter.

my first disappointing album with WASP.

Two good songs, Damnation Angels, and High on the Flames. The rest sucks.

I remember watching a presidential primary debate and the candidates were asked about their "favorite song" They all gave pandering answers like "Born in the U.S.A."

I wanted just one of them to say "Dirty Balls" by W.A.S.P.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard it. I think I had The Crimson Idol and it was absolutely terrible. I was done with them.

It’s good. Big dumb WASP, after they tried going industrial Marilyn Manson it’s a throwback to the earlier records. Admittedly it’s not as good as those but not terrible either.

When I saw the thread title, I thought one of the questions was going to be about the Dirty Balls intro. Ammonia balls have eyes lol

I remember liking it & thinking of it as their return to old school W.A.S.P I haven't listened to it in years though.

Given the song titles, I'm gonna guess this was before he found Jesus.

On that note, most of the songs are actually pretty decent. Forgettable, but decent.

Pretty weak, most songs have the same riff. It’s like WASP trying to be AC/DC

Damnation Angels is full on Hell's Bells... at least the intro.

Helldorado was an attempt at a "we're going back to our roots" album.
The album can best be described as "trying too hard."
And Blackie's vocals are all screaming. I mean yes, he has always been a screamer-style singer but this album takes it to a whole new level of annoying. The album becomes one big blur of noise and you're glad when it's over.

I also think I have soft spot for it in that when it came out in 1999 there wasn’t much in the way of “80’s metal” releases. That was the height of nu-metal/industrial/alterna/limp bizkit shit.

Exactly. I was just happy to see a band like W.A.S.P releasing a new album that wasn't industrial.
