Great White - Call It Rock And Roll (HD) Official Video

Post by ParaDime77 »

Straight up 4 on the floor goodness. It’s wild to re-watch this video and see how mobile Jack was in his prime.

Great White had some very pristine sounding production for their biggest albums.

Very solid song, but not their best. I still dig it, though.

I remember a lot of hype around this song. Big things were expected as the lead single for the follow-up to Twice Shy.

I believe when it fell flat, it cost them a planned arena tour.

That's what I love about those rock video girls. I get older... they stay the same age.

Some pretty girls there. I wonder where they are now and how much they weigh.

I always liked the song but felt the video was overdone. Looked more like a makeup commercial than a rock video.

I think the comment above is correct. The label gave Hooked a big push but there was just too much competition out there and it's not a very good record anyway outside of the singles.

Forgot about this song.

Sounds like they wrote it in 5 minutes as a b-side. Can't believe it was a single.

Video does a good job of showing how big they were (or wanted to present themselves) at the time but after a co headline jaunt with Tesla in 89, this album saw them still opening for Scorpions. They did do a few week headline run after the album release tho (with Bulletboyd & Steelheart) in small arenas

I remember when me and my buddies heard this for the first time we thought the intro sounded like "Once Bitten... Twice Shy". R.I.P Jack

Really? This is THE song I think about when I think about Great White. Maybe I just saw it a lot on MTV or something.

I always liked this song, and this album. Not a great album by any means, but solid. "Desert Moon" should have been the lead single, though.

I was trying to remember when Great White first popped up on my radar, maybe 87 or 88.
Fun fact....they were billed as the Loaded Blanks in the Ally Sheedy movie Maid to Order.

I'm not saying its bad - I love some 1-4-5 blues and rock n roll. And I'll listen to Mark Kendall play anything.

But I think there a massive difference in effort between this and something like Rock Me, Desert Moon, etc.

This is just... a blues jam.

this is a cheesier, less catchy rewrite of ‘once bitten twice shy.’

Sad how neutered the band became

Oh, for sure. I definitely have others I like better as well, that just happens to be the one that I most commonly associate with them. It's got to just be that that's when I was watching A LOT of MTV.

My uncle divorced in the 70s and remarried a woman who looks curiously similar to Jack with the bangs here. She was first so I think Jack ran into her somewhere and copped her look.

I loved Twice Shy but when I heard this I was very underwhelmed. Desert Moon was a little better but it was obvious the band was finished.

They didn't play in LA on the Scorpions tour or for years around this era.
