Not surprised. The longer they wait the more the price goes up but they have to do it eventually. Liam's solo show is kinda like Vince or Pearcy, just a half assed Oasis show.

Who knows what / if they will do in the US, the last LA show at Staples Center in Dec 2008 was maybe 2/3 full tops but it's a different world now.

Great songs but not really all that great live.

Also, who actually cares? These two quarreling twats weren’t interesting in the first place.

There's two things I've been surprised about with all this, and them reuniting isn't one of them. It was bound to happen eventually, too much money on the table to not do at least one show at Wembley or something.

1) I didn't realize they had only been broken up since 2009. Feels like they had been done for at least 20 years.
2) Seems like (and you could argue they both are) that the actual asshole is Noel. He has come off as an absolute dick in anything I've seen him in since the breakup. I really would have expected it to be Liam, being the lead singer and everything. But then again, you could say the very same thing about Van Halen and DLR.

Agreed. Sometimes they surprise though. A friend saw them years ago in Germany. Noel spotted someone at the back wearing a Manchester United shirt. The band stopped playing and told the guy to take off his shirt. He took his shirt off and the shirt was passed on to the stage, where the band stomped on it.

Maybe not so many people on this board, but booking four nights at Wembley stadium suggests somebody probably cares.

For many Brits it’s the equivalent of Kiss putting the make up back on.
I expect it will go just as well.
Is it the original band or the brothers and hired guns?

It wasn't confirmed yet, but it was mentioned somewhere, that it's the brothers and Noel's band. Only the brothers are in some concert posters. So maybe they're doing like Black Crowes.

Liam has been touring playing Oasis songs for years now. I thought that would have diminished the demand for a reunion, I mean he is the singer, does it really matter to people of Noel is there or not? I guess so.

Are Bonehead & Guigsy still active playing music? If so, it's be great if they brought them out for a song or 2.

Not surprised. To make the kind of money these guys expect, they need to be out selling t shirts.

Except much bigger than that because they had more mainstream appeal and success over there. Every single one of those stadium dates in the UK and Ireland will be sold out within hours.

Apparently, members of Noel's band, High Flying Birds, will be the others in the group. They're not the originals, but guitarist Gem Archer was in Oasis for the last eight or nine years, and the drummer Chris Sharrock was in the band for the last year or so of Oasis. Both were also in Liam's first post-Oasis band, Beady Eye, before joining Noel's band. In terms of musicianship, they're a major upgrade on the originals.

I'm seeing the last Oasis bassist Andy Bell live today, but as the guitarist of Ride.

Fair point; people are obviously buying tickets in England and maybe Europe too? I never got their appeal, I guess, outside of all the fighting between the brothers. I don’t have the sense American audiences are exactly clamoring for an Oasis reunion, but who knows.

I saw them a few times around 05-06 and they were playing 3k venues (House Of Blues in NJ).

is this supposed to be an example of them being surprisingly better than not great?

I couldn’t care less about these 2 idiots and their shitty band, but smart move to spice up the divorce/retirement fund. Their marketing team is going to have a field day squeezing out the last drop promoting this snoozefest. Wolfgut management ready to apply for opening slot North American leg as we speak.

Not surprised but I don't care.

Talentless hacks whom can't play guitar. But the public who sing their post soccer/football sports commentary anthems when England Football loses its upteenth world cup final game or stagger on the way home from the pub drunk don't either.

Never liked Britpop in general hence why the below video is the funniest skit from that comedian I have ever LOL'ed to.

Cool, enjoy! I think Noel's happy with his High Flying Birds bassist, but Andy Bell could step back into an Oasis tour with no trouble at all.

I'm surprised at how much publicity this reunion is getting in the U.S. and they don't even have any shows here (yet).

Makes me think the time is ripe. Book the arenas. Headline the festivals. Cash in. Give the '90s a moment.

No-one in Britpop was a Man U fan that I can recall. They were the 'establishment' team, reputedly marketed heavily to the middle classes elsewhere in England (contemporary joke - "Q: how many Man U fans does it take to change a light bulb? A: 2, 1 to change it, the other to chauffeur him there from London") and abroad. City were (and are) of course just as corporate but somehow kept the 'working class' image. (I hate club football in general).

One of my ex-housemates cleaned Noel's and Liam's houses. They got gifted so many clothes that they gave a lot away so I had a pair of 501s for a few years that had belonged to one of them for about 5 minutes.

IDGAF about the reunion but it'll be inescapable in the media for a while longer, then all next summer.
