Mötley Crüe have announced a 35th anniversary box set and vinyl reissues of their seminal 1989 album Dr. Feelgood. The various formats arrive November 22nd.
The box set will be available in both vinyl and CD formats. Disc 1 features a remastered version of the original album, while Discs 2 and 3 contain a Demos EP and Live EP, respectively, each running five tracks.
The collection includes other ephemera such as a 24-page book of never-before-seen life and behind-the-scenes photos; a 18×24-inch re-imagined album art poster; a replica backstage pass and show handbill; a patch; guitar pick; and a press kit folder that houses the original 1989 press release, press photo, and 16-page tour itinerary.
Numerous retailers will also be stocking specific single LP vinyl variants, each with re-imagined cover art showing “35 years of decay.” The variants are as follows: an exclusive colorway for independent retailers; an Amazon-exclusive picture disc; a Walmart-exclusive color LP with 3D Lenticular cover art (also available on CD); a Target-exclusive Zoetrope vinyl; an Urban Outfitters-exclusive colorway; and standard black vinyl.
Dr. Feelgood stands as Mötley Crüe best-selling album and arguably their most critically lauded. It boasted five successful singles — including the hits “Dr. Feelgood,” “Kickstart My Heart,” and “Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S)” — and cemented the Crüe’s place as one of the defining hard rock bands of 1980s.
Mötley Crüe are still going strong to this day, with a new EP — their first release with guitarist John 5 — set to drop on October 4th. They also have a few US live gigs left in 2024, including festival appearances at Louder Than Life and Aftershock (get tickets here).

I’m only a buyer if they mixed in extra horns and saloon keys on Rattlesnake Shake.

I hope both will go on one CD so it won't be a 3 cd set. Aren't those the exact same demos that were bonus tracks on the Crucial Crue remaster 25 years ago by the way? No Rodeo, Monster Us or Say Yeah? Lazy indeed.
Edit: It will be 3 cds, 2 of them with like 5 songs each. All for $188 plus postage. The Crucial Crue remaster with the same demos as bonus you can find for $5....

I'm guessing these are all rhetorical questions! But from what I know Motley own their masters so they are making what record companies make plus their own artist/writer royalties.
They are pushing it a little with all the single album box sets but it's common for record companies to put out new compilation albums or live albums just to have new product out there.

Ha, that gave me a good laugh
That song is the absolute perfect definition of what filler is.

Even Van Halen, a band notorious for not adding things to reissues, put out a live CD and Blu-Ray with the "For Unlawful Carnival Knowledge" reissue this summer. Motley Crue can't find a pro shot somewhere to throw in? I can find a few from that tour on YouTube. All the "Bonus" tracks have been already released. They have find a tape of rough mixes or anything? As somebody said, their reissues are as lazy and uncreative as their performances.

I find it hard to believe that their Moscow Freedom Festival (or whatever it was called) performance wasn't recorded. Unless it was and these are the only available tracks from it.

Not that they are great by any means, but why not release the demos for "She Goes Down" and "Slice of Your Pie"?
And since they have no problem double-dipping, add the Feelgood demo song(s) from Supersonic and Demonic Relics.
As far as live stuff, "Kickstart" from Decade is from Dallas, and the Japanese release has "Red Hot" and "Dr Feelgood" as live bonus tracks. There has to be the full show in the can.
Lazy fucks.

That was more of the final GGG show, not DrF

Ah, my bad. HOWEVER, I just thought about it, didn't they play the full album as part of Cruefest one year?!? Surely they have a recording of one of those shows somewhere.

The worst Mötley song released in the 80s and it's not even close.

I downloaded the album a long time ago and burned it to a CD-R, it still sounds great to this day, I don't need no stinking rerelease.
Adding a full show would have been smart... I bought the Pyromania re-release a few years ago because it came with a full LA Forum show.

Not even the worst song on the album.
It's better than Without You

If you think one demo track is worth $188, you need psychiatric treatment.

Yes, exactly right about the Dallas show. They also used Without You and Don’t Go Away Mad from that show on the Entertainment or Death live album. So, that’s 5 from that show right there. No idea why they don’t put out the whole show. It sounds massive and would be perfect for a Feelgood box set.

It had to have been recorded because live versions of Girls and All in the Name of Rock from the Moscow show were released on one of the Afraid cd singles.

Maybe it's stuck in Russia like Sabbath's 1989 shows. They also put 2 songs on a single but the full video didn't leak for many years.

Well, for a band that owns its own masters it actually does make whole lotta sense to push the old product in a new package for a millionth time. It's all profit.

I don't know about you, but I've always wondered what a Giuffria b-side would sound like if it was covered by a bunch of kids slapped together for a battle of the bands by the local music shop, with the instructor playing drums on a Casio.
That fill at 2:40 is absolutely ferocious.

No demos for She Goes Down or Slice of Your Pie? They need a lesson on reissues from Yoko Ono.

Ah, my bad.
Dr. Feelgood was released a couple weeks after the festival. For whatever reason, the Crue chose not to preview any of the new shit.
