What's your opinion on Richie Sambora's Stranger in this town?

I heard it a long time ago and last week I bought it for 1 dollar on cd in a Clearwater record store. I remember liking it that long ago, and it has more or less stood the test of time. Some great vocals, some great playing, some cringe "pop metal from 1990" parts but not so much as could have been. I like it.

I was a big fan of it when it came out, still give it the occasional spin. Definitely most enjoyable of his solo albums

Great blues Rock. It was a little too Claptonesque for Bon Jovi fans at the time.

Agreed. It's a very solid tune. Actually reached #63 on the Hot 100.

All killer, no filler. It never attained Gold status. Rock fans suck.

I liked Ballad of Youth, Rosie and Father Time, but apart from those it's pretty much bland and tepid white boy blues rock. I've never liked Clapton that much and I don't need a diet version of him either.

I couldn't help but notice how well "One Light Burning" held up when they showed that clip of Richie on Arsenio during the Bon Jovi documentary.

It actually made me revisit Stranger in this Town, although I got bored of it and didn't listen all the way through. Great production though. This was 1990. The last year before bad production became cool.

I've always loved this Sambora song. Great live version. Not from Ballad of my youth, I know, but I dig it.

Speaking of other Sambora solo songs, "Seven Years Gone" is great:

Never heard it, gave it a listen, wish I didn't click on it. Terrible.

I don't think I've ever heard Richie compared to Stevie Ray Vaughn but he sure sounds like Stevie to me! Had the hat too!

Love the record. It's very bluesy and soulful and artsy. Now, I'm not talking "I was born a poor black child" blues. I'm talking the guitar player for Bon Jovi wants to prove that he is more than just You Give Love a Bad Name.

It's a great record but did not find it's audience.
