Worst catalog by a Sludge band?
Not counting garbage bands like Nitro that had like maybe two albums, it's gotta be KISS. Bit of a toss-up between them and Motley, but KISS never had an album as good as Too Fast for Love. Debut and Creatures were very strong. Other than that? Even most of their 70s albums are pretty average. Couple of good tunes with a bunch of filler. 80s albums had quite a bit of hot garbage on them.
Is Ted Nugent a Sludge act? He's got some pretty horrible stuff as well.

Re: Worst catalog by a Sludge band?
As far as lower level Sludge bands, the band that can't be named would be up there for me. Also, Southgang and Danger Danger.
As far as major bands, I guess I would agree with Kiss as they have a lot of filler. Same with Motley. And if Nugent is included, I vote for him as well. Other than his first three solo records from the 70s, his catalog is almost 100% garbage.

Re: Worst catalog by a Sludge band?
Motley Crue was allowed to really coast on their image and bad boy reputation, they really weren’t that good.
Outside of Appetite, GNR’s catalog isn’t that good especially for how big they are. I agree with the prevailing Sludge winds and critics that UYI should have been one album.
WASP albums are laughably bad. As is everything else about them.
Twisted Sister were Black Sabbath compared to clowns like WASP and Motley Crue but had a catalog that was very hit and miss
Great White made very mediocre albums. It took me along time to realize this. There were so many better bands than them.
For all the love and hype they get on here, Kix’s catalog is nothing to write home about. A respectable live band but they weren’t AC/DC much less Poison, even though they wanted to be desperately.

Career all CDs
Skidrow is horrible- Bach stuff legendary than massive nosedive- so awful it’s unlstenahke
Queensryche- even with Tate it’s boring then new singer makes band unlistenable
Take away Bon Jovi CDs 3 and 4…before and after ..makes them what? Just blah mostly
Leppard without CDs 4 and 5…career not legendary
Kiss without costumes..would they even have fans

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Yngwie. By miles.
The song “Rising Force” is kinda cool and there have been a few cool instrumentals along the way, but overall his catalog is absolute shit.

My vote goes to Quiet Riot. The first album was good, the second one was basically a copy, and the rest is meh, esp. those albums with Shortino, which are intensely mediocre.

Agree with all of this except Twisted being better than Mötley - not even close.Tommy2Tone84 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:36 am Motley Crue was allowed to really coast on their image and bad boy reputation, they really weren’t that good.

But what about AC/DC themselves? They have three stone cold classics in Powerage, HTH and BIB but the rest is a bunch of GGGs and Animalizes. 2 good singles and a lot of boring same sounding filler. If not for Thunderstruck, they'd be Uriah Heep today. Or Deep Purple at best.

But don't just take my word for it that Yngwie is one of the greats, ask the fine people over at Fender, eh Mr. FreddyFender?! They were stoked to include him in their roster of artists from the beginning.
"...in 1988 when he was officially named alongside Eric Clapton as the first artist to get a signature Strat. Later in the interview with Wong, Malmsteen revealed that the first prototype he received from Fender made it onto his 1988 Odyssey record..."

You guys are tripping. If OVERRATED was the question then maybe you have a case for KISS or CRUE, but WORST jeezus they don't even break the top 20.
KISS first 8 albums are great.
UNCLE TED'S run from CALL OF THE WILD thru CAT SCRATCH is untouchable.

Pretty edgy take shitting on KISS while sporting a username of a guitarist without a single song under his own name that the average person could name even with a gun to their head and multiple choice.SchenkerFan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:57 am Not counting garbage bands like Nitro that had like maybe two albums, it's gotta be KISS. All of Kiss' 70's catalogue is better than Too Fast for Love. Except maybe Love Gun and Dynasty.SchenkerFan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:57 am Not counting garbage bands like Nitro that had like maybe two albums, it's gotta be KISS. YingYang may be legendary and all, but this song was terrible. I kept wondering if it was a drum machine, because there was no groove at all, and the overall arrangement just sucked balls.
It sounds like exactly what it is~ the work of a guitar noodler who has no concept of song or how a band should play together.

Re: Worst catalog by a Sludge band?
The setlist from this past tour shows that clearly! There were very few songs outside of Pyromania and Hysteria.
I've come to love High & Dry over the years. That guitar tone and more in your face production are cool. It shows a band on its way to greatness.
Adrenalize was a hit record but I've grown to hate it. Too light and fluffy. Most of their albums after that were too light and fluffy with very few memorable songs. But you just can't deny how amazing Pyromania and Hysteria are.

W.A.S.P. isn't a bad answer. Most of their catalog is unlistenable.
I might go with Extreme. They were, are, and always will be crap.
BulletBoys would be up there too.

I have to agree with Quiet Riot. Take out the covers and they don’t have 3 listenable tracks in 40 years of recording. Plus they always looked stupid.
Re: Worst catalog by a Sludge band?
Quiet Riot was the first to come to mind.
I also think E'Nuff Z'Nuff blows.

Re: Worst catalog by a Sludge band?
Several of the YT comments praised the slow section that starts at 1:24. I agree that it's 4 quite pleasant bars (or maybe 8; I don't recall and don't want to re-listen) but the rest - as far as I could stand it, which was about 2 mins - was utter shit. It's a long time since I tried to listen to Yngwie and it'll hopefully be the last. If that's one of the "best" from his catalogue (correct spelling) then he truly deserves the prize in this thread.Sleek wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 12:27 pm I hadn't heard this, and after listening, I agree it is awful.

Extreme would be my second pick, Nuno Bettencourt is a badass, but that funk-infused music is crap. Pornografitti didn't last long in my music collection.
