I was thinking of how excited I was for the kiss reunion in 1996. It had been 17 years since the original lineup played together. That seemed like such a long time before. I never got to see them with makeup.
I was at the very first show The KROQ Weenie Roast organized by a radio station that wouldn't play Kiss if you paid them. They never even formally announced that kiss were playing. The radio commercial simply said "...and special guests" followed by the "If you want the best..."
sound bite. Kiss would close the night preceded by The Fugees, Everclear, Korn, No Doubt, & Red Hot Chili Peppers.
It was awesome. And although, technically, in hindsight it wasn't really all THAT awesome, I probably saw five shows of the initial tour maybe another five for the Psycho Circus tour.
I loved it. I bought the tour programs and the magazine specials and the bootlegs that made the rounds. I bought the very first McFarlane wave of action figures but they were all goofy and sucked. They didn't get it right until McFarlane did the ALIVE! style figures.
And now it's been 28 years since that first reunion show. Almost 30 fucking years ago. The members of the band are all in their 70s.
When I was younger 70-year-olds were OLD, talking about guys like Frank Sinatra - I would have liked to see him fly out to a platform in the middle of the audience in his advanced age.
But I'm still listening to and talking about KISS, at this point they may well as be The Andrews Sisters, Young music listeners who are into a whole new scene wouldn't know the difference.
Well I better get to back to partying before I rock and roll tonight
U know u r old when u r nostalgic for reunion tours

Wonder how much MISS paid to be on KROQ show…station always had zero to do with hard rock..it was always a joke to them.
Felt bad for MISS..all KROQ laughed at them
Be like Goo Goo Dolls headline KNAC show..coming up after Slayer is Goo Goo Dolls reunion!!!!
