CORNING, Calif. — The Bret Michaels concert at Rolling Hills Casino that was supposed to happen the night of Sunday, Sept. 22 was cancelled unexpectedly.

According to staff with the casino, the Bret Michaels team cancelled the "Parti-Gras" concert at the location two days ahead of the show but no warning to customers was posted. Staff shared that Michaels' team did not give a clear reason as to why the show was being cancelled.

On the artist's official website,a post from September 12th reveals Michaels' plans to limit shows in 2025 due to growing health issues. However, there is no mention of his show the night of Sept. 22, and he reportedly played his Sept. 21st concert near Phoenix, Arizona.

All event pages online where someone could buy the tickets for the Sept. 22 show had been taken down by Sunday afternoon, and there's no record on Michaels's website that he was set to appear at Rolling Hills Casino.
Staff with the casino shared any tickets bought by card should be automatically refunded, but if someone purchased them in cash they will need to go to the casino's front desk.

That casino is at least an hour and a half from civilization. I can't imagine selling many tickets to the kids at Chico or the elderly bussed in from Sacramento. Although i thought most of these casino gigs agreed on comp up front so maybe that doesn't matter

All these casino shows... it's a miracle that none of these guys have developed gambling addiction problems!

Casinos in the middle of nowhere do good business. WinStar World Casino, the world's biggest casino, is in Thackerville, Oklahoma - the middle of fucking nowhere on the OK/TX border.

Betting they cancelled for for logistical reasons - money wasn't worth the trip (read; didn't sell enough VIPs) to go up to Northern California from Phoenix when that was the last show out west before hitting the east cost.

The routing of the tour is crazy - I wonder how it's all working when they're only doing a couple shows a week.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few major acts are doing their casino gigs for "free"

Does Bert put “health issues” in every statement he makes? Bret talks about being diabetic with 1990’s logic and care. Diabetes is so beyond manageable in 2024 with easy to wear devices like Medtronic or Freestyle Libre. This guy walking around like he’s in inches away on a daily basis from being in a hospital bed is a fucking joke Because it’s so far from the truth.

"""""""""""" wouldn't be surprised if a few major acts are doing their casino gigs for "free"""""""""""

What makes you think any of these bands would play for FREE?

Especially at a place that is basically printing money...

Actually, it's quite the opposite, Casinos are paying these bands TOP DOLLAR, and often, the show is low-doe, with FREE entrance to those who might "book a room for the weekend", or have "casino points" built up from previous stays, etc...

The Casino isn't making all their money off of a Vince, Bret or Keifer show... but, they are making a boat-load of doe from the 800-1,500 who attend, when they Spend the night or the whole weekend, buy breakfast, lunch and dinner, drink all weekend and gamble their paycheck away too!

If 1,000 people all spent $ 150-200 or more... that right there is $150-200k income, and those bands, even at an inflated price of $40-50+ grand... the Casino banks!

I would bet my balls, NONE of these bands ever play for FREE, especially at a Casino!

I could be incorrect. But I believe he was referring to possible bands that have run up a gambling debt over time. Similar to Bruno Mars. Word is he is millions in debt to a casino in Vegas he has done a residency to pay off his debt.

But your example without gambling debt makes perfect sense.

It's weird...I never even think about gambling anymore. It just seems like giving your money away.

I've played a few casinos this year, and only after reading this thread did I realize I never actually did any gaming. The last one, Yaamava, I didn't even go in the casino building (we played the pool area).

I shoulda been clearer on like you lost so much at the tables now you gotta come back and play again. Sometimes there is a bit of credit / chips alongside the deli tray and the casinos predate on more than just the fans. But then at least until fentanyl I would have ranked gambling behind drugs, booze and hookers as the worst vice. At least the natives have some payback for smallpox and fire water.

Yeah it's actually the opposite - I saw Quiet Riot play at a casino on the 4th of July some years back when Frankie was still alive. Admission? FREE.

I'm sure the band got a nice guarantee. The casino just wanted to attract as many people as possible and get them drunk and partying on a holiday weekend.

Bet at least half the crowd went in and gambled, ate dinner, or drank at the bar before leaving - myself included. Mission accomplished.

Wow. That point went wildly astray
