Josh Klinghoffer, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janes Addiction, Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop and Morrissey, is set to be arraigned tomorrow in a California courthouse for a March 18 car accident that left a pedestrian dead.

Klinghoffer is expected to be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. The arraignment and plea is set for tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. PT at the Alhambra, California, Courthouse.

Court records indicate that on March 18 Klinghoffer was driving a Black 2022 GMC Yukon when the vehicle struck 47-year-old pedestrian Israel Sanchez at a crosswalk in Alhambra. Struck in the back, Sanchez was pronounced dead at the Huntington Hospital later that day at 5:28 pm.

No shit - misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter…without gross negligence?

Running over someone while looking at your phone while driving…not gross negligence? Not even worth putting gross negligence in front of a jury? As a rich white man, did he have to be jerking off at the time with the other hand as well?

I’m not about to consult LexisNexis for the actual (supposed) standard here but wow.

Gawdamm woke America.

Don't you miss the days when you could plow into a family 5 on the way home from Happy Hour and everyone knew it was just an accident.

I wish they would give this asshole 10 years.

I walk quite a bit and it is fucking terrifying when you realize that half the drivers aren't even watching where they are going. If you are habitually looking at your phone and you finally kill a pedestrian it is no accident. Fuck him.

Asked a buddy of mine from school who does public defender work in Washington because I couldn’t square the no gross negligence part. In Washington at least it’s vehicular homicide if you kill someone texting while driving.

Best he can come up with not knowing CA law is the available forensic data in phones is crazy these days and it might’ve been established that he wasn’t texting at the time, phone might’ve been on lock screen, or it was determined he wasn’t actively scrolling.

Obviously not a good look either way, but quite the lucky SOB if this is the case.

Entered a not guilty plea through his lawyer today, there might be a trial:

https://blabbermouth.net/news/former-re ... nslaughter

According to Rolling Stone, former RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Josh Klinghoffer pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge in connection with a car accident that left a pedestrian dead.

Klinghoffer did not attend today's (Thursday, September 26) hearing at the Alhambra, California courthouse but entered the plea through his lawyer, Blair Berk.

That’s kind of disappointing but maybe Vedder will cover song for him? For lawyer costs
Vedder bitching and complaining at all his shows will be fun
Maybe he will cover Def Leppard “women”…big cash song

She fed him with a hunger, an appetite

You should ask LexisNexis to explain plea deals to you while you're at it.

Haha, I don't know the other posts you're talking about, but I'll take this one firmly on the chin. And feel free to thrust.

I completely fucking misread an article I looked up on it as him pleaing guilty. Durrr.

He wasn't on his phone. It would be listed in the charges if he was. Stop making things up just so you can be pissed at what you call, "rich people".

Look at the video. He ran the guy right over in a crosswalk in broad daylight, whether he was on his phone or changing the radio station, does it fucking matter? He clearly wasn't looking at the god damn road.

Agreed 100%. between unleashed dogs and drivers not paying attention I feel like I have to keep my head on a swivel at all times.
