Metal Sludge Wayback Machine links... some are choke full, others have missing content, but man, lots of amazing stuff.
There are no links to 1998 but there appears to be a handful from 1999.

Some of those old posts should just be erased from the internet as they didn't age well, like this one from the Sludgewire on October 5, 1999.
DAVID LEE ROTH had to cancel tonight's concert in Tucson, Arizona and may have to do the same in Phoenix because drummer RAY LUZIER is ill, recovering from pneumonia in a hospital in Hampton Bays, New York, where the band played on Saturday. While there's a slight chance that Luzier will be well enough to play the September 30 Phoenix show (which will be rescheduled if he isn't), it's more likely he'll return for the Las Vegas, Nevada gig at the House of Blues on October 2.
Taime "Sex" Slaughter: Dave might be balding but he's cooler than fag boy Fary Cherone.
Jani Bon Neil: Dave has gotten Ted Templeman as his producer for his next album, and he produced all the classic Dave era Van Halen records. Now if he gets Eddie, Alex, and Michael, we'll be all set!

i have used it before. my old band from 1999 had a website and its on there too. Also, the website I started for work way before they had a website is also on there. I wish I had enough sense to park a lot of domain names but back then, we all thought the web would never amount to anything. I was way wrong.

Metal Sludge was started on September 1st, 1998. Within the first 4 months we got over 20,000 hits, which is great, considering most of us are HTML retards and we started this as a joke. We are basically a parody of Metal Edge. See, a lot of bands look through every issue of Metal Edge and goof on the other bands featured in the magazine. Bands always talk shit about each other. So we wanted to bring the people a site that did just that. Also, we wanted to knock Gerri Miller off her high horse, and that is exactly what we have done. She was the editor of Metal Edge when this shin-dig of a site started, but since then, she has been given the boot. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. But what we have done is show the world what a shit talking bitch she is. Her reputation is worse than OJ's. She's been put in her place. And we will always be around to make sure she stays there.
We have created a page where the every day slob, or "Sludgeaholic", can say whatever they want. People never really had an outlet to bitch about hard rock / heavy metal. If you were to send a letter to Metal Edge and say, "Vince Neil is a fat piece of shit and Jani Lane looks like a frog", they'd never print it. But we will. If you want to bitch about a band or an album, or if some "metal star" was a dick, or if you just blew your favorite "metal star", you now have an outlet to express yourself. Your welcome.
As of now, we have 6 regular reporters, if that's what you want to call us. There is Ozzy Stillbourne, Donna Anderson, bastard boy floyd, Taime "Sex" Slaughter, C.C. Van Sixx, and myself. Occasionally, we will have some other candy ass report stuff for us. If you want to write for us, go fuck yourself! Then, send us what you want us to post and we will let the Sludgeaholics vote to decide if it is good enough. If you make the grade, you might be in.
So that's the gig. If you love us, great. If you hate us, great. But either way, you won't be bored. Later.

I recall at some point that threads that sit dormant for a long period, perhaps a year or more, they fall off.
I think the same could be said for old accounts as well, I recall that if someone doesn't use their account for a certain period, the membership goes tits up.

Wow that is the wild west of internet pages... When people didn't know who ran this place was golden.. some folks actually used their heads and watched their behaviour because they understood those 20 Questions had hints of the author seemed to know his shit, so they played it the way they should. But others treated it like a bothersome nobody with no real knowledge.
My favorite is obviously Anthony Fogx or whatever his name is. To have record company employees telling you to lie about your age when you're a new guy in town, shave a few years off, But this guy tried to pull that stunt after being a staple in the scene, that just reeks of complications right off the bat.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am incredibly grateful for being a kid entering highschool in 1990 or else I probably would have found my way down there. Maybe even shouting ODIN at Gazzaris or playing in Lizzy Borden or some shit.
Yet I'd love to have seen faster Pussycat and gnr at the time.

I agree with who ever said be fun to see the old message boards. Jesus im old. Them were the wild west days. Any thing went, and pretty much did all the time. It was flame central. Even the CEO got involved when he outed deathcurse, or chip z hoy or whatever as a ginger from iowa. Think he even posted his facebook page?? Not sure or maybe his picture??
I still remember when Iggy died. Think a few from the boards went to his funeral. A real world friend of iggys showed up and gave us the story. Dude knew about the most obscure bands on the planet. That was the day the sludge stopped and everyone was nice, didnt last long, maybe a day or two??
Iggys death REALLY hit the CEO hard. Think they both met in the real world a time or two?? My fav poster was stoner, while I have ZERO clue what became of her, oh she was brutal. I think she even started her own hate thread for me. I felt pretty important to get that much hate from someone. It was great. God I miss her. I miss them days. Now everyone is a snow flake, but Glad I was around when it was brutal. OMG, so much fun.
