Boston

A popular band from the 70s that is rarely discussed or mentioned here.

Thoughts and opinions about this band.

When I first saw their CD's in the 80s I thought their graphics looked incredibly cool.

Great band with some classic tunes. IN later years, the songwriting became very average at best

First 2 are stone cold classics. Each is basically greatest hits.
I liked walk on but no where near as good as first 2.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but I thought Corporate America was outstanding. Other than that a few good songs here and there

The debut is amazing. I never liked Don't Look Back. It just sounded very generic.

3rd Stage and Walk On had some nice ballads but they were very, very light FM ballads. I don't know about anything after that. I only listened a handful of times.

Amazing vocals, harmonies and guitar tone. That Rockman amp is damn cool but you can't play anything without it sounding like Boston! Def Leppard used it a lot on Hysteria with a ton of EQ.

Debut album is a perfect classic rock record. No weak tracks, just press play. And the recording and production were stellar. An original pressing vinyl copy with a good turntable/reciever sounds FANTASTIC.

Don't Look Back has some good songs on it but overall not as good as the debut. Then again, that's basically an impossible record to follow.

Brad Delp had an amazing voice. Tom Scholz is genius-level smart. Boston songs also make for great driving music.

“More Than A Feeling” and “Peace Of Mind” are two of my favorite songs ever. Like literally top twenty.

“Foreplay/Long Time” and “Smokin’” are up there as well.

…and other than listening to the S/T vinyl once all the way through when I bought it a few years ago, I’ve never heard anything else by them. I’m sorry.

Their debut is a fuckin' masterpiece. Second album comes pretty close to matching it. Third Stage has its gems as well.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Perry much spot on. Third Stage was the Chinese Democracy of its time. There was a shit tonne of hype when it was released due to the lawsuit delay. Much like Chinese Democracy it had its moments but didn’t live up to the hype.

Yeah 3rd Stage was kinda wussy and underwhelming considering that it was 8 years in the making.

A waste … they could’ve released so many great albums.

One of their better songs from 1997.

Sounded great but boring as fuck live.
Saw them on the Third Stage tour headlining Texxas Jam. Played Rock and Roll Band, More Than a Feeling,
then preceded to play Third Stagefrom front to back. Many in the crowd left about 5 songs into the show. You could still hear the songs from outside the stadium.
After a long hot dusty day packed with more energetic bands like Poison, Tesla, Whitesnake and a sober Aerosmith I think a lot of people were just burnt.

Delp was an awesome voice and while Scholtz was a great guitarist, he was also a major egotistical prick if you read what Van Halen had to say about him. He either felt threatened by Eddie's playing or tried to show how simple he thought it was by playing Eruption and yawning as he did it, it's a little wonder VH didn't last on tour with them.

Gee, a guy who wrote, played and recorded all his own music is a major egotistical prick... that's so unusual since guys like Pirince and Billy Corgan are such great chums.
