Sebastian Bach concert review

Post by pieceofme »

Just got back from seeing a great show from Sebastian Bach.

The opener was this local band called Brass Camel. They were a mix of prog, the darkness, and spinal tap, but it kind of worked. Had a solid groove to them.

Next up were this band from Ohio called Kurt Deimer. Singer was really preachy and talking about love and be great to everyone. Real hippy shit. Singer was also the weak link in the band. He also gave props to tragically hip so that gets them a minus 100 points right there. And he was in Halloween 2018. Got killed by Michael Myers. Maybe Chip Z Hoy knows him. I'm never going to Ohio if this how people act around there.

Before Bach came on they played a few deep cut KISS songs like Take Me, Anything For My Baby, Flaming Youth so you know Bach had his say in the music being played between sets.

Bach opened up with one of his new songs and it went down really well. Was actually surprised at the amount of people singing along. Rare to see such a crowd reaction for a new song from an 80s act. Most of the set was from the self titled album. Only two songs from Slave to the Grind. He also sang Oh Canada near the beginning. And played part of Tom sawyer in Monkey Business which was cool. Before I remember you he paid respect to dead Rockstars. I didn't realise the guy from Anvil died. Dmbrocker did you not post about his death? And even sang a snippet of love of a lifetime in honour of CJ Snare.

Overall he was in great form and the crowd was really into it. One of the best 80s rockstars still going. His voice held up pretty well, but his band definitely chipped in. And he got this girl to sing I Remember You with him.

I was also the tallest person on the floor which was cool but a bit odd. I'm 6'1 so a decent height, but no jolly green Mojo tall.

I did not meet up for drinks with CanadianMetal before the show.

I know... I was reading that review thinking "This is way too polite and positive for Sludge. This is not going to go over well."

I think his live shows simply became more fun when he dropped all his solo songs and focused on the first Skid Row record. Now he's doing a few from his new record and maybe 1 or 2 more but it's still more of a fun rock show instead of a metal show.

when did he every play "all his solo songs"? i think 3 maybe 4 is the most he's ever played at a show.

He has a new record out now but for awhile he was doing just Skid Row songs to mark the anniversary of the first 2 albums.

Plus I think the new songs this time around blend in a little better compared to his previous solo albums. Playing Tunnelvision between I Remember You and Youth Gone Wild was a total buzzkill!

I know Sebastian gets a lot of hate here. But he is one of the best vocalists and frontmen of the genre. He has his faults but who doesn’t. I appreciate that he plays material from all three of the band’s records and even covers Little Wing off B-Side Ourselves. The band ignores anything after Slave except maybe Rachel covering The Ramones which he was doing before the covers ep.
He’s one of the few hair metal singers worth their salt.

The band gave themselves a vasectomy when they decided to let Sebastian and by default, Rob go. They’ve been a tribute band ever since. Sebastian can be a bitch at times. I’ve seen it first hand, but he’s still one of the best and the band isn’t anywhere near as good or the same without him and Rob.

Saw him the other night. Good show over all. His voice actually seems better than it did a couple years ago so kudos to him. He’s got a decent band with him, but only one guitar player which leaves them sounding a bit less full.

The new songs went over shockingly well. Idk why he bothers with songs like Can’t Stop The Heartache and Rattlesnake shake when he could play better songs from Slave to the Grind or even his own solo material.

I was waiting for a melt down because he did motion and scream on the mic towards the opposite side of the venue “get that fucking guy out of here” during one of the songs, but nothing more came of it.

He did kinda a dick move in that someone tried to get him to sign a piece of paper during monkey business, he came back after the song took the guys paper and stated basically “what the fuck is this? A piece of paper, I’m not signing this. To everyone that goes and buys my cd or record I will sign those because I want you to have this album”He stated more or less the same thing again before youth gone wild…. Pretty much implying that if you bought it at the merch stand after the show he’d be there to sign it… which he was not. Nor ever intended to according to what I over heard the merch guy telling some old past her prime skank. I was buying the new album either way since it’s a really good album and I try to still support bands putting out new quality product, especially on a club level, but the skank is as pretty pissed off about it asking for a refund.

All in all worth the $40 or whatever I paid.

We’ve gone over this numerous times. Subhuman is fucking trash. Everyone knows this. YOU know this. Why would he intentionally ruin a concert experience for his fans? People wouldn’t just go piss, they’d probably physically assault him.

Nothing wrong with including one song for the hardcores. Subhuman has more than one good song.

How hard can it be to put that in a nice way?
