ONLINE CUSTOMERS ... This last week I had a customer message me 41x, and it's likely gonna continue.

At this point, I guess I need to accept it that the customer is either special needs, or simply has a gnarly case of OCD! #WTF!
About once a month I get one of these customers, but this guy might be the worst I have dealt with in years.
He ordered last week, I shipped same day, and he's now received his stuff, but the messages continue.
The amount of incoming, questions and the related to his purchase, is beyond crazy.
While he did spend roughly $500.00, it's almost at the point, that the money is irrelevant and it's not worth my time to appease this idiot.
I am curious to see how long the messages continue... I might have to block him. lol

Is it random questions about back in the day?
How much was a beer at the Whisky in 1988?

All the same dumb shit someone like this would be expected to ask....
Customer: "Hey, is there a tracking #?"
Me: "Yes, It has already been added to your purchase."
Customer; "Ok."
Customer; "Is the box large?"
Me: "It's about 15" wide, by 24" long."
Customer: "Ok."
Customer: "Thank you for shipping..."
Me: "You're welcome."
Customer: "Do you have others like this?"
Me: "Yes, check my store on eBay (Link is here)."
Customer: "Okay."
Customer: "Do you sell a lot of these?"
Me: "I have a few."
Customer: "Ok."
And it has continued, with 5-6 or more messages every day.
Instead of asking me 3-4 things in one message, he keeps sending 1-liner after 1-liner.
It's like the customer that comes up to my merch table and sees 20 CDs, 5 Vinyls, 5 Shirts, 3 Baby Dolls, Men's Pull-over Hoodies and then asks if I have bandanas or bracelets.

Reminds me of people at work, but in reverse. I'll send someone an email with 3-4 questions related to a specific project and they'll answer one question, prompting me to have to reiterate that wasn't the only thing I asked. It gets to a point where I feel like they're fucking with me, but then I realize they're not smart enough to be doing that.

Ha, I hate that. My work had a big meeting about leaving notes on orders, not super detailed notes, just basic easy to understand notes. Then after the meeting, I call a customer and leave a message and of course leave a note on the paperwork, I always do anyways cause well common sense. but especially after a meeting about it right? I go to lunch come back the customer has called not listening to his recorded message, my coworkers are like I don't know what he called about. uuuummm fucking hell

I don't sell nearly as much online as the CEO does, but people can be so damn frustrating. I listed a slipcase in a book collector group on Facebook a few weeks with a full description and 6 pictures from all angles. A guy asks for more pictures. Fine, I send a few more which he promptly marks up and sends back asking if this or that is a blemish or just the lighting. It's in flawless condition but he asks for another round of pictures, and starts doing the same thing. Finally I concede that there's a blemish on the spine where there wasn't one just to get him to leave me alone. Right before I block him he offers me half of my asking price.
A couple weeks before that I was selling a book on Facebook Marketplace. It's somewhat sought after (a copy of The Bachman Books by Stephen King that includes Rage which is out of print) We agree on my asking price, $50. I give him the option to meet me at 1:30 on my lunch hour, or at 5:15 after I get off work. We agree on 5:15 the next day and that he'll bring cash. He messages me that day asking if I can move it to 2:30. No you idiot, I'm at work. Then he pushes it to 6. I'm getting really annoyed but the meetup spot is only a couple minutes from my house so I say ok. I get home from work a few minutes after five when he messages me that he's there. I get there and he says he only has $45. I tell him forget it and he whines about having driven 45 minutes to get there and that it's for his sister who has been looking for a copy of this book for years and blah blah blah. As I start to pull out he magically comes up with the missing $5.
I worked in customer service many moons ago and used to be able to let people's entitlement, selfishness and stupidity roll off my back but that was a long time ago and these days it gets under my skin more than ever.

There's very good odds that the "idiot" is on this board, so ranting about somebody who just spent $500 is a good way to make sure you don't get another $500 from anybody. Is it annoying? Only if you allow it to be. Otherwise collect your money and be thankful you can still make money selling stuff in 2024. You just paid some bills with that order.

Good job sticking firm with the price. I do the same as well. If they traveled a decent distance they won't want to leave empty handed.

Marketplace is 100% is the worst for this. “It’s $100, FIRM” you wait around all day and the person shows up with $50 and some sort of story.
With Stevie’s issue…once I input that tracking, I’m not obligated to go back and forth with idiots unless there’s a legitimate problem.

I may try to sell a bass locally with Facebook marketplace. Shipping can be a pain. Thanks for the warning. I have Zelle on my phone now. Maybe they'll use that. Too much shennanigans can happen with cash payments. "Oh no....I guess I don't have that extra $100!"

That's the way its coming off to me.
The guy bought some merch from the singer of a Hollywood hair band who had a video on MTV and a well known satellite radio song American Hairband and the CEO responded to his questions, so he's thinking and probably bragging to his limited circle of friends of talking to and being a 'friend' of Stevie Rachelle from Tuff.

THIS!
I listed a few things on there but never did any sales.
To date I have probably sold 25-30 guitars and basses, some signed, some not.
A few years ago I off-loaded an AFD Gibson Les Paul signed by 3/5 of GNR (Slash, Duff & Adler)... got $14,500.00 for it.
Had it listed for $12k for the longest time, and got a bunch of offers in the $6-7-8k range, declined all. Then Eddie died, and I said to myself, "Eddie's stuff all went through the roof following his death... maybe I should boost this a bunch and see what happens?"
Slash is 1 of 4-5 of the top living guitar Gods, so I re-listed it for $25,000.00, and the offers started coming in at 10-12+ and within a few weeks, I sold it for $14.5!
Sold a signed Sixx bass, and some others... signed high-ticket items are always a good day!

There are all sorts of scams with Zelle. I wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole.
Cash payments are shennanigan free. If some dude travels to you and doesn't have the agreed upon amount of cash? Tell him to come back when he does.

I hate when people pull the 'I only have x amount of $". Had the same thing happen with a $500 amp, dude came to my house and tried to say he only had $450, I said no, his gf who was with him magically had the rest. Be a big boy and negotiate a price or come with what I asked.
People suck.
Facebook Marketplace people are the worst though. They are the biggest time wasters.
I may try to sell a bass locally with Facebook marketplace. Shipping can be a pain. Thanks for the warning. I have Zelle on my phone now. Maybe they'll use that. Too much shennanigans can happen with cash payments. "Oh no....I guess I don't have that extra $100!"
There are all sorts of scams with Zelle. I wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole.
Cash payments are shennanigan free. If some dude travels to you and doesn't have the agreed upon amount of cash? Tell him to come back when he does.
Yeah, though cash people can be frustratingly flakey, all the payment apps (Zelle, CashApp, Venmo) can't be trusted. So many scams.
If you do insist on using the payment apps, make sure the money is in your account by going to the app itself. Don't trust emails as they are easily spoofed by the scammer. Don't click on links, etc.
