What were your thoughts the first time you heard The Lumberjack song by Jackyl ?
Hated it with a white hot passion.
Which is funny, as I loved the rest of the album.

I have to wonder if deep down, Jesse hates that song too. It was a gimmick song, but it did it's job of getting the band attention. However, now he's GOT to play it at every show they do, which means having to either bring his own chainsaw and stool to every gig (or have it on the rider), hope there's no technical issues with the chainsaw, and risk getting injured, which has to have happened hundreds of times over the last thirty years.HueyRamone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 6:54 pm Hated it with a white hot passion.

I thought it was odd that Jani seemed so messed up about it in that interview. I never thought cherry pie was his legacy

I wouldn't say I liked it or dislike it. It was a novelty song that took on a life of its own. Never a big jackyl fan, but watched that shit-show Full Throttle Saloon for a couple of seasons.

Having met Jesse, I'll say that while Full Throttle Saloon was clearly played up, reality tv bullshit, he is THAT GUY, through and through. He was going to be successful, by God, and found a way. Sure its a gimmick song.. would probably get old playing and hearing it that often..

They were playing this in the bars before they got signed.
Used to piss off bar owners all the time.
Annie’s had just remodeled the stage and he carved Jackyl in the brand new ceiling with it.
Used to carve up barstools at other places.
He also used to do a (really bad) guitar solo and sing the Oscar Mayer hot dog song.

He hummed The Star Spangled Banner into hie guitar pickups when I saw him. I thought it was hilarious.
