David Gilmour 2024- how horrible is the tour?
I’m guessing 1/5 stars
Nov 16 Pinion Hills(60 miles away)
Area 333 Fest with Green Jelly
Show hasn’t happened yet but will be 5 star fun
The Big Rock Inn will be magical place that day..3pm start
333 Fest will be awesome as Rebecca Black tour was at El Rey

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

He sounds great, but the setlist is a snooze fest.
Almost entirely his boring solo stuff.
I know Roger is an obnoxious lip-synching twat, but he is definitely the better songwriter (not that his solo stuff is exactly amazing, but much better than Gilmour's easy listening, bland solo stuff)

Reviews of the new album and tour are very good. Fans seem to be enjoying both.
Gilmour's guitar playing and singing remain unbelievably amazing considering he'll be 79 in a few months.
I chose not to go because while I was willing to drive 5 hours and pay $80 a ticket in 2016, I wasn't willing to drive 9 hours and pay three or four times per seat this time.
Also, the setlist isn't as strong as it was last time.
The first half of the setlist is great, but the second half is pretty weak by comparison.
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt I - V", "Money", "Us and Them", and "Run Like Hell" were played in 2016, but not this time.

4/5 review
Show seems like actual f*cking torture
Cyndi Lauper at new Clipper Skydome in November will rule
She is doing Goonies song at #2…don’t arrive late
Green Jelly actually cares about the fans definitely getting 333 Fest shirt for Lauper night

New album is great. He plays Sorrow off A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, 2nd best PF album

And nothing from his 1st 2 solo albums, which are quite good.

Gilmour doesn’t have a song about Fred Flinstone
Does Gilmour even like Rambo?
He won’t play near the beach in San Diego
Never seen stripper(female) in Gilmour band
Gilmour fans are never coolest people in the room
3 little pigs would set that stupid wall on fire

For being a Waterless song Sorrow live is one of my personal highlights of a Pink Floyd show. That song is amazing in concert!ijwthstd wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 2:31 pm New album is great. He plays Sorrow off A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, 2nd best PF album

For some reason I just got a funny picture in my head of current day Motley Crue trying to pull off this song live.
Be careful if you go on any Floyd forums saying Momentary Lapse is the second best Floyd album.

Go see an audiologist if you think that ML is the 2nd best Floyd album

The four albums are ALL significantly better than Momentary Lapse, and it ain't close: Dark Side, Wish you Were Here, Animals and The Wall.
Heck, even David Gilmour himself admitted Momentary was not quite that good and preferred his other shitfetst, Division Bell over it.

Yeah, that's criminal. His first solo album is very good. The second one has its moments.Bono Nettencourt wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 2:33 pmAnd nothing from his 1st 2 solo albums, which are quite good.
I saw him live in 1984 on his first solo tour in a 1,500 seat venue! (the old Kabuki theater in San Francisco). They apparently had held two nights for the Berkeley Greek Theater (where I also saw him) but they couldn't fill two nights and so they threw in this TINY show at the very last moment the night before (or after) I can't recall.
It was the LOUDEST show i can recall -- his on stage amps were SCREAMING. I couldn't believe the stage volume (i was right against the stage).
And David was dick before the show. We were waiting out front, maybe only 10 people, he walks right up to the front door, and nicely ask for an autograph, he semi shouts 'noooooo' as he walks quickly by us.

My friend saw him in 84 at the Tower Theater. They put the lights up but the crowd wouldn't leave. He came back and played "There's No Way Out of Here"

There is no topping the Meddle to The Wall run of PF albums, but AMLOR and The Division Bell have their moments.
I like Gilmour's solo albums too. Each one sounds quite different from the one before it, which is kind of cool.
There are a handful of artists who are immediately recognizable because of their vocals and their guitar playing. He's definitely one of them.

Agreed with all of this. I have a soft spot for AMLOR, though less for The Division Bell. I wore out my copy of "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" VHS back in the day.CrankerBait wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:01 am There is no topping the Meddle to The Wall run of PF albums, but AMLOR and The Division Bell have their moments.
