STEPHEN PEARCY Doesn't Think MÖTLEY CRÜE 'Would Want To Play' After RATT On Hypothetical Joint Tour

Of course RATT would blow Crue’s doors completely off. That goes without saying.

However Crue doesn’t have even a shred of self awareness, so they definitely don’t actually feel that way.

https://blabbermouth.net/news/stephen-p ... joint-tour

When Prato noted that some of the people he interviewed for one of his books, "World Infestation: The Ratt Story", said that a reunited RATT should have been included as part of "The Stadium Tour" in 2022, with DEF LEPPARD, MÖTLEY CRÜE, POISON and Joan Jett, and asked Pearcy if he agreed, the singer replied: "Of course. But I'm not the one… If it was a vote, of course not — I don't think MÖTLEY would want to play after us. And that's how it would have settled up. We still have some kind of competition out there, y'know? We would consider it, like, 'What? We're going to open up for you?' So yeah, we should have. It would have made sense. I mean, I don't care if you put us third, fourth, whatever — our motto was, 'Go out there and beat your ass, anyway.' And if they know you're playing first, they'll come and see you first, second, third, or whatever."

I mean... Ratt would do better than Crue. Any band would, mostly.

But it's not like current Pearcy and the boys are the second coming of Appetite-era GNR. They just wouldnt be as shitty.

Dumb.
A reunited Ratt w/o Blotzer would have been great on that tour. Get rid of Joan Jett and have Ratt open the show.

PS. Flickerstick is recording their first album in 20 years. Sad that a D level band as more new music out than Poison. Ratt. And Kiss.

Other than Pearcy being thin and Vince being fat, they put the same energy into their shows (which is zero) and both sound horrible. And they both look like death for different reasons.

As dysfunctional as Motley Crue is, Ratt is even worse, and that's saying something.

The idea that Ratt should headline over Motley is ridiculous. Motley is just simply more popular than Ratt. They've got bigger hits and have been way more consistent as a touring band. Never mind comparing the two vocalists since they pretty much wash each other out. Both suck. Sure, Warren is a better player than Mick was, but your average 5th grader would know Motley before they would know Ratt. (Yes, doubtful the 5th grader would know either band, but if it came down to it, Motley is more popular). At this point, I think an argument could be made Ratt should open for Poison. Bert alone has way more mainstream popularity than SEP and the boys. Since Robbin has been gone and the original lineup split, they've been a club level band.

Yeah original is better for sure. 2/5 of orginal + replacement drummer from back in the day. So I guess 2.5/5 ?
Either way. A new album. Small flies on wknds. Done by 2026 I guessing.

This would be a good match but have Motley and RATT ever toured together? I know Vince and Stephen have done some shows together. Out of all the bands that have done package tours over the years, that's one combination I don't think I've seen.

They did dates together on the Shout theater tour. Beacon Theater NYC 6/2/84.

Pretty much this and don't forget that all of the first 5 Mötley albums outsold the previous one until the 6x platinum Dr Feelgood. They also had compilations going platinum in 2005 and 2009. Ratt's sales peaked with OOTC at 3 million and then decined for every album until Detonator only made it to Gold. Ratt were on a downhill trajetory since their debut and never recovered, Mötley had at least 2 comeback tours with Carnival of Sins and The End.

Wow, that must've been awesome! When they were all still young and hungry. It's been 40 years! I can't believe how old these songs are sometimes! It certainly wouldn't be what it was in 1984 but it would still be a cool show especially if Ratt can get Warren back at least.

I don’t think anyone is questioning that MC was more commercially popular. But the fact remains that Ratt is infinitely better. Then and now.

Domino’s is cafeteria buffet quality at best, but it’s the most popular pizza chain in the country. Motley Crue is Domino’s. People are stupid. Fall down in any direction in Brooklyn and you’ll land on a better pie. Ratt is Brooklyn pizza.

Ratt was never any better than Mötley. Ratt was living proof of a band that the more music they put out, the more live shows they did, the less people wanted to see them. Even as early as 1988, they were playing to half empty buildings. Every single album was the same, and people tired of them quick.

Calling Ratt "Brooklyn Pizza", just shows that you have never eaten pizza in Brooklyn.

Mötley is Domino's...fair enough. But if that's the case, Ratt is Little Ceasars, or $5 Pizza.

You don't even need to factor in the mythical Bret Michaels "mainstream celebrity" appeal. Ratt has already opened for Poison. Many times. The totem pole was established long ago.

If Ratt was considered for the Stadium Tour, which they weren't, it would've been for the Joan Jett 4 p.m. slot.

But that wasn't going to happen. Nikki Sixx and Joe Elliott continue to own real estate in Fantasy Land and believe their own bands have more in common with the Runaways than Ratt.

We need "Dokken - Ratt - Crüe" package before it's too late. Maybe it's 20 years too late now but at least it's better than being 25~30 years too late.

Ratt is one of my favorite bands but come on, they don’t have the catalog. Doesn’t matter how good Ratt (whoever that is in Pearcys mind) plays, they don’t have stadium sized hits like “Dr. Feelgood”, “Kickstart my Heart” and “Without You.”

Ratt…. has casino-sized hits.

I disagree. I think Ratt’s catalog dwarfs Crue’s. MC had many more big hits, but that’s where it ends for them. If there wasn’t an MTV video for it, you don’t want to hear the song.

Ratt could play just about anything from there whole catalog, and even if you didn’t already know the song you’d be glad you were hearing it now.

In one shape or another, all I keep seeing in defense of Crue is their popularity. Cardi B is popular too. Most people are stupid.

Ratt has been a minor league act since the late-80s. Whether they deserve it or not, Motley Crue bounced back from their 90s dip in popularity to return to major league headliner status, and for reasons that escape me they remain a big draw. The prospect of a "joint" tour is zero. Third on the bill, at best.

Ratt had just as much filler garbage as any band. Outside of the singles, virtually every other song was crap. There was a few here and there, but outside of the singles they put in maybe 5 minutes of work for the rest of the album.

Disagree. The hallmarks of both Cellar and Invasion is that they are very close to "all killer, no filler." Very deep albums for the album cuts. That waned later on, though. I'm not sure Motley ever had an "all killer, no filler" album, but they probably got closest with Shout and Dr. Feelgood.

Throw Poison on the bill and I'm there (assuming Bert, Rikki, et al can agree to it).
