Geoff Tate wants a reunion, but says it's unlikely
https://blabbermouth.net/news/geoff-tat ... ill-happen
Has he tried apologizing to Wilton for punching him and spitting?
"I don't think it's likely, really, at this point. I mean, there's been several offers on the table, getting the band back together. And nothing has inspired anybody to get in the same room or even pick up the phone and talk. So, I think it's pretty unlikely. In fact, there's not really a band anymore. [Laughs] With [drummer Scott] Rockenfield gone, it's just Eddie [Jackson, bass] and Michael [Wilton, guitar] playing, using the name QUEENSRŸCHE, of course, which is very valuable. And it's not really a 'band band' as we know it. So, yeah, I don't really think it's likely."

Even when Geoff was in the band it wasn’t really a band. It was the Geoff Tate Show.

At this point, how much more business would a reunion (not including Degarmo, who is clearly done) really draw over and above the current lineup? And how much better would it be? Enough to be worth it for Wilton and Jackson? In each case, I doubt it.

Domestically it would probably be the same, but I could see them being a bit higher on bills for the European festival circuit.demolition23 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 12:18 pm At this point, how much more business would a reunion (not including Degarmo, who is clearly done) really draw over and above the current lineup? Are there any guys in Queensryche that were even in the band when Tate was still the singer?

Tate is quoted in the article as stating just that, that's it's not really Queensryche anymore, it's just Wilton and Jackson.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 1:41 pm Are there any guys in Queensryche that were even in the band when Tate was still the singer?![]()

So same as Priest (Halford, Hill), Scorps (Klaus and Rudolf) and Maiden (Harris, Murray). Doesn't seem too bad for a dinosaur metal band in 2024, does it?skinni wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 6:43 pmi believe that they are down to 2 original membersFreddyFender wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 1:41 pm Are there any guys in Queensryche that were even in the band when Tate was still the singer?![]()

Wouldn't be worth it unless we got a full classic lineup reunion. And Wilton and Jackson won't deal with Geoff's ego anyway. Much like SR has zero desire to reunite with Bach.demolition23 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 12:18 pm At this point, how much more business would a reunion (not including Degarmo, who is clearly done) really draw over and above the current lineup? Re: Geoff Tate wants a reunion, but says it's unlikely
It won't happen. Wilton and Jackson have the name and power in the band and it's an ongoing paycheck for them.
If they reunited, they lose their power and who knows if their smaller cut from a bigger paycheck even makes it worth it. Plus, even if they retained rights to the name, trying to reconstitute a non-original line-up after the inevitable implosion of a reunion (of some sort) line-up is hard if not impossible.
As long as they can make a living with this line-up, that's what they'll do.

Re: Geoff Tate wants a reunion, but says it's unlikely
Yeah, QR might still be making payments on the loan they took on to buy Tate out.
Hiring Tate while at the same time paying him off would really be something.
And honestly, much like Skid Row, I doubt the money is there. Would they really be playing bigger venues with the original lineup? Maybe for one tour at the most.

Re: Geoff Tate wants a reunion, but says it's unlikely
I think you're right. Both Tate and Queensryche are in clubs and struggle to fill them. Together they may be able to sell out those places or play slightly bigger places. Don't think they could pull off a Maiden or Priest where they went from clubs to arenas when they got their frontmen back. They weren't as big to start with and went back to playing clubs already before Tate left.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 3:43 pm Yeah, QR might still be making payments on the loan they took on to buy Tate out.

Would he wear his vest?!?!?
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

And unlike Skid Row, QR have actually hung onto their replacement and put out albums that, while not classics, are a good bit better than their last two or three Tate albums.dmbrocker wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 6:54 pmWouldn't be worth it unless we got a full classic lineup reunion. The official Queensryche social media I follow makes sure to share cool pics of Mike Stone showin' off his tats playin' a Flying V. Maybe the Ryche fans who came onboard in 2004 will take notice and buy tickets.
