KISS fans often ask for "heavier" versions of this song, but the problem is that it is a great "pop" song and rarely works in a heavier version. Something is always lost by just adding more distortion, etc. "I Was Made For Lovin' You" is basically a flawlessly produced song as it appears on DYNASTY and IMO, never sounds quite as good no matter how they played it live. Having said that, I wanted to update the sound a bit a do a few things using the original tracks to make a "new" version that some fans may like.

The vocals, drum parts, bass and guitars are more or less unchanged, but I have blended some custom drum samples for the kick and snare and to bring out the cymbals a bit.

I've added a little grit to the bass which fills the mix out a bit more overall and is closer to the "snarl" we hear in Gene's live sound. I decided to blend the original rhythm guitars with the re-recorded guitar tracks from the SONIC BOOM bonus disc since they have a little more overdrive and have good stereo separation of the palm-muted parts Ace plays throughout the song. On the original those are up the center with the chords panned left and right. Combining them gives the whole mix a broader, more open sound.

I also added a different ending to replace the original fade-out.

The video is from the 4K transfer from a 16mm print that was what was shown in theaters (along with "Sure Know Something") before or after ATTACK OF THE PHANTOMS outside the US. I did some restoration to smooth it out a bit and did a shot-by-shot adjustment to the lighting and color. I also moved a few shots around since there were originally some odd out-of-sync shots (especially of Peter). Since the video was an edited version of the song, I mixed in some of the footage from Largo '79 to allow for the full version and to show a bit of the Dynasty show in action.

It's weird because even though I saw that video a thousand times over the years when I was editing this version I suddenly realized on some of the close-ups I could totally see "old bitchy Paul face" right through the makeup even though he was only like 27 at the time.

Good song and one of my faves from the band.

It just recently showed up in the Godzilla X Kong movie, so clearly, it's going to be with us forever and ever.

The 1996 KISS show I saw was better than the 2009 concert, except for one thing: "Beth" wasn't played in 2009.

You seem to not grasp the idea of fan edits and remixes. Of course it’s something “I came up with”, derp. That IS the point. What’s the point in just reposting the exact same original version? and in this case I changed nothing about the actual song aside from the mix.

the debut and HTH.

I've always loved Dynasty... but what I don't get is the love for Unmasked. Many of the KissFAQ clueless seem to rate that higher than Dynasty... which is fucking absurd.

Dynasty is a great album and aged well. It is one of thier best and most cohesive albums.

Dynasty was the last great album in the initial run. Unmasked sucked. Elder was just bizarre. Creatures was their last album worth a shit.

Yes. Dynasty is still RnR (Pauls songs are a bit wimpy, but are good).

Unmasked is.... I dont even know what it is, but it doesnt rock and it isnt good.

Agreed. I listen to KISS, HTH, Destroyer and Dynasty the most from the original lineup.

Dressed To Kill prob rounds out my top five. I prefer it to the other two studio lps

I don’t even listen to the Alive albums anymore and think they are overrated.

I like the solo lps alot even Peter’s.

I like Unmasked but I never liked the production on it. Which is so weird since
it’s the same group of people who recorded Dynasty. If Unmasked had better
production I think it might be viewed atleast a little more favorably by fans.

The Elder has its moments. I wanted to like it. I tried it like it. I like some of it
