Megadeth Rude Awakening Concert Video
I just put on my DVD of Megadeth's Rude Awakening concert. Remember the period in the early 00s when DVDs were getting popular and bands released these 5.1 mixed concerts? Some of these are quite underrated. It has a nice raw theater feel. It's a shame Megadeth never released an official live concert video when Friedman was in the band.

Ah well, there's Rust in Piece live in its entirety with a dude who's forced to play all of Marty's leads!

Does it have a high-definition surround sound mix?Psychobolia.com wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 2:56 pm Ah well, there's Rust in Piece live in its entirety with a dude who's forced to play all of Marty's leads!

It's too bad that Rude Awakening features their worst guitarist of the last 35 years. Other than that, I actually quite like it.Rocker4Real wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 12:45 pm I just put on my DVD of Megadeth's Rude Awakening concert. I think he's good technically. He lacks stage presence since he's more of a session player.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 6:49 amIt's too bad that Rude Awakening features their worst guitarist of the last 35 years. Love that video.
Pitrelli is my favorite of the post-Friedman guys because its clear he wasn’t just told “just sound exactly like Marty”, which I can’t say for some of the other guys.
He brought more of a hard rock/Brian May thing. I loved it.

I get wanting to have a different sound and mix things up, but at least when I listened to him, it didn't sound like he was even playing the songs correctly.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 7:40 am Love that video.

I maintain that the only reason Return to Hangar exists is to give Al a version of the song to play that wasn't as difficult.

I'm sure he's changing/bullshitting some passages, I don't mind. I get why it would annoy others though.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:37 am I get wanting to have a different sound and mix things up, but at least when I listened to him, it didn't sound like he was even playing the songs correctly.

And I fucking love his solo to Dread and the Fugitive Mind.

To be fair to him, 1000 Times Goodbye is one of my favorite Megadeth songs, so it's not like it was all bad. I think he's fine playing his own material (i.e. Savatage), I'm just not sure I want to hear him playing other people's stuff, and even a good guitarist is going to struggle with someone like Friedman.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 10:00 amI'm sure he's changing/bullshitting some passages, I don't mind.
