Lennon was a Rocker who also did non Rock. His Christmas song is good, but not my favorite. If we're including instrumentals, "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" by Savatage/TSO deserves a mention. Most Christmas songs Rockers do are not good.

Best would definitely be "Christmas With the Devil" by Spinal Tap.

I recall hearing LA Guns cover "Run Run Rudolph" some years ago and found it to be surprisingly good. That Twisted Sister Christmas album still holds up, too. My wife loves it!

The Beach Boys' "Little Saint Nick" is a personal favorite of mine that I have to hear at least once every Christmas. Another cool Christmas song from them is "Child of Winter".

As for the worst, I heard it recently for the first time and am surprised I missed it in the 90s. WTF was Billy Corgan thinking with that Smashing Pumpkins "Christmastime" song. It sounds like some creepy guy watching kids at Christmas and signing about it. Was that the point? I kept waiting for something crazy to happen in the song...anything, but no, it was just a straight-up Christmas song.

Honorable mention would be "Cashing in on Christmas" by Bad News. Great British comedy rock tune featuring the late Rik Mayall:
