Rock is dead anyway. Nobody cares about acoustic Trixter. Makes sense that everybody listens to Greatest Hits albums... plus HARDY.
Time to turn this bitch into Country Sludge.

Linkin park with 3 albums in the top 20! Bump in interest due to the new singer.
Rock really is dead in regards to new releases.

That Sleep Token album is about the only thing I've played since it came out a year ago.

Three Metallica albums on the list too. Good career move not to release a Greatest Hits, that seems to have killed catalog sales for GnR, Bon Jovi and Leppard to name a few. Lots of Greatest Hits albums in the top 50.
Also good to see Ride the Lightning make the top 30. Invincible Shield, Led Zeppelin IV and the new Ghost didn't.

There are some holes in this list, as Billboard apparently doesn't consider Nirvana to be "hard rock." ("Nevermind" is #33 on the top catalog albums chart, which would put it at #3 or #4 on this chart since it's ranked behind the Nickelback compilation -- unless you consider Journey to be "hard rock" too, in which case they'd be #3 or #4 and Nirvana would be #4 or #5). Not quite sure why they consider Hardy "hard rock" but not the other two, but whatever.
Besides "rock is dead," the takeaway is that the bands who have been creeping up festival bills in recent years -- Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Falling In Reverse, Bring Me The Horizon, etc. -- sell more than just tickets. And it's crazy that a band as extreme as Knocked Loose sold just a few copies less this year than "Master of Puppets."
Besides the Nickelback comp outselling GNR, AC/DC, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, my biggest surprise is the Seether comp at #19, ahead of the Zeppelin comp. Who the fuck likes that band? I've never seen a single Seether shirt in the wild, and I couldn't name one of their songs.

Kinda strange that the highest "new" album, is from a country artist. I'd have thought Hardy's newest one, Quit, would have been on the list as well, It's way heavier and just better. The one listed is half country and half rock, and the hits were pure county.
