I just can't feel sorry for this guy... but of course, his Family will now sue Royal Caribbean.
Just saw this on the local L.A. news and found a few links online.
In short, it seems this ship left the Port, and within an hour, this guy was obliterated drunk, and got into it with other passengers threatening to kill them.
Then when the Ship's reps (security / staff) approached him, he got more violent and injured 2 of the ship's employees by kicking one guy in the face and punching another.
One of the staff hid in a towel room and locked the door. The guy is seen on film repeatedly kicking the door, trying to access the room to attack the guy some more.
He is a big guy and eventually he is subdued and arrested on board, taken into custody, then he died later that day.
Now of course the Family is claiming there is more to the story.

Unruly Royal Caribbean cruise ship passenger accused of attacking crew member dies after detainment
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - A Royal Caribbean passenger raised hell aboard a cruise ship that left San Pedro bound for Ensenada, Mexico.
Christifer Mikhail set sail for Ensenada to celebrate his birthday, along with his wife's, and their anniversary over the weekend with a dozen family and friends. Not even an hour outside of the port of San Pedro, the unruly cruise passenger started terrorizing other people on the boat.
"The gentlemen that was drunk said he was going to kill us," Mikhail told FOX 11's Hailey Winslow. "He started chasing us down the hallway."
Cell phone video showed the man trying to kick down one of the doors in a fit of rage.
Mikhail said a crew member got attacked by the unruly passenger. The man was also seen spewing profanity and allegedly went on a racial tirade.
"I was kind of scared," Mikhail said. "I'm stuck in this hallway."
The cruise's security eventually placed the man in custody using zip ties and handcuffs.
The man seen on video kicking down the door died shortly after he was detained and now, his family is planning for his funeral. He leaves behind a child with autism and a fiancé, a relative told FOX 11.
"He didn't deserve to die over it," the relative said.
The Royal Caribbean confirmed the passenger's death. The company issued the following statement on December 17:
"We are saddened by the passing of one of our guests. We offered support to the family and are working with authorities on their investigation."

Here is a report from yesterday, before the guy had died.
Interview with a passenger, who describes what was happening.

Wrong.
In all serious, I'm sure the fat fuck just had a heart attack. You know, while trying to kill people. Family won't get shit if they sue.

Right...
The passenger interviewed said he was chasing people. threatening to kill them, and when Ship Crew (Staff) tried to subdue him, he got violent.
The video alone is nuts... a 300 pound drunk guy trying to kick down a door to attack workers is nuts... clearly the video shows about 8-10 ship crew, and none of them looked to thrilled they were having to deal with this ass-hat an hour into a cruise!

No way it was drink, he had to have had something prior to boarding. Sounds like some sort of psychotic episode

I wonder if this has happened on Rock/Metal cruises with drunks trying to slam dance.

At one point you can see him with his shirt off. He is very overweight. One of the videos had a comment that said no one that big is getting drunk off a couple beers. He must have had taken something extreme.

Agreed! Even if you drank a ton in an hr, you would be passed out, not extremely unhinged and aggressive.

Boy turned up on shrimps and rum. I’m pretty sure sex assault is on the official passenger itinerary for Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises. At least he didn’t throw a baby overboard.

What an embarrassment. His family must be humiliated. 4k people on that ship and only theirs couldn’t stop chugging bottom shelf rum long enough to stay alive. Merry Christmas from the least cool dad onboard.

Few years ago some krunk turnt on rot gut cruise liquor threw his own grandkid out a window. Kid landed on the pier about 15 stories below at terminal velocity. Bones flew right out its skin.
Stay classy, Carnival. Everybody conga!

I have been on 6 Cruises in total.
5 of them being the MORC cruises and 1x on the Packer's Legends Cruise.
I have seen a total of 1 fight on all my cruises. and it was not on the MORC.
Also... it was not a Packer fan, but some of the College kids who were from either Alabama or Florida State.
On the Packer's Cruise. they had 1/3 of the ship, and 1/3 was the University of Alabama and 1/3 was Florida State.
So, it was basically 1,000 Midwest Packers fans and 2,000+ College kids, all between 19 and 22, drunk, acting stupid and as you'd expect that crowd to act.
Matter of fact, I have never even seen or heard an argument on any of the MORC cruises. Nothing but a chill event, all 4-5k people enjoying themselves!

I'd imagine the MOR cruises are a bit more expensive than regular trips from socal to Mexico. Who wants to screw up a trip they spent thousands of dollars on by acting stupid?

Was the guy being interviewed the guy that shot the camera footage? I hope they gave him a free upgrade at least on his next cruise! What a horrible way to spend a vacation.
As far as the drunk guy. Obviously he was a lifer. I’ve seen plenty of that. Guys that drink and do drugs for years. Just one sip can trigger it and they get loud and violent. This was a very extreme example though!
I’ve never been on a cruise. This video does not change my mind.

Right. People are underestimating the possibility that a guy "that big" could get drunk and stupid. It's absolutely possible.
It's also very possible he was on anything or any combination of things, at this point we don't really know, alcohol is always the go-to because it's the most common and people their say he was "drunk", which is worth whatever that's worth.

One of problems on cruise ships with this type of incident (which does happen more often than ya think) is there is no full time security on the ship. Everyone employed by ships do mulitple jobs daily so your security guard at 1pm might be your bartender at 5pm & DJ at 10pm. None of the employees are very large & can handle this on a regular basis
On ship cruises, there are security hire by the promoters who can handle themselves. Actually, many of the normal people are able to step up if needed due to their everyday jobs better than cruise personal.

This is your typical angry/blackout drunk type... every group has 1.
We used to have a guy that worked for Tuff back in the day, who was the nicest, calmest, quietest guy... but... after a number of drinks, he became the biggest jerk!
In short... there came a time, when he crossed that line, 1-too-many times with me. We were on tour, in Denver and had just played "Bangles" and he got out of line and I put him back into line, in a big way.
He and the other crew decided to go party in the bar, and the Bus bays (underneath) were left unattended with some guitars, etc.. in the area. I went in and found them, and told them in so many words to go handle the gear first, and once everything was done, and locked up, they could party all night.
Well, he didn't like that, and decided to start yelling at me, insulting me, and he did so in front of a bunch of fans as I was signing stuff and taking photos.
Big mistake on his part, and I guess he felt extra brave that night... sadly for him, that beer bravery was not enough.
I absolutely beat the living shit out of him in front of several people, and if it wasn't for Robbie Crane pulling me off him, he would have been hospitalized.
After his beating, I went onto the bus and threw his luggage into the parking lot. Then I went into the back lounge and had to ice my knee, as I had used it on his face several times, and I had a softball size swelling on it.
The next morning after waking up, I come out of my bunk to the front lounge and he's sitting there, not saying a word and was quiet as a mouse.
His face was covered in Peanuts band-aids. They made the bus driver go to a 7/11 to get band-aids as he was pretty banged up. But, they only had Snoopy & Woodstock band-aids for kids, so he wore them for the final days of the tour.
I absolutely can't stand drunk people, especially when they can't handle their alcohol. Nobody likes a loudmouth drunk.

It's also possible he had been on board all afternoon drinking before the ship left the dock. You can be on board for hours before the ship sets sail.

Right. This is just one of those things where there's a dozen+ combos of mental health/alcohol/drugs/whatever that can end up here and speculating is kind of pointless
