Anyone here identify as a (Richard) Marxist?

The one that started it all. Spreading gossip and insults since 1998.

Anyone here identify as a (Richard) Marxist?

Post by dmbrocker »

Another artist who, like Whitesnake and Tesla, made the top 40 in my rundown thread. For a few good years in the late 80’s and early 90’s the guy was an absolute adult contemporary soft rock god. Those first three albums are just perfect and still hold up to anything put out today. Plus, he had the balls to stand up to friggin’ Rand Paul! Anyone else here a fan the almighty Richard Noel Marx?

The baseball cameos in the music video for "Take This Heart" were cool.

he contributed quite a bit to that first Vixen album, I believe.

"Richard Marx, one of the late 1980s' most successful recording artists, was heavily involved in Vixen's early career, co-producing the album and writing one of their highest-charting singles, "Edge of a Broken Heart"."

Indeed they were. Ten year old me and my brother thought at the time that it was one of the coolest things our young selves had ever seen, in fact.

the guy has some killer music. Plus some iconic songs that will be around for ever. I really dig "Hazard". such a powerful song. You can almost see it in real life.

Don't like his work, mainly as a singer since he has such a mild and uninteresting voice. Don't much like the songs written for others either. What Richard Marx does, Jim Vallance did much much better.

Mr. Mister (and much more so "Pages") could be very good, but I would agree - not ever "edgy." I'm not sure edgy means good. Only to the philistines who think The Ramones are edgy and thus a more interesting listen than is (for example) Yes. Those people are the ones who maybe ought to be shipped to Alcatrazz Island and left to forage for scraps of seagull excrement there because they are only a drag on the world - or a boil on the ass of Richard Marx.

Something I learned on TikTok…
He sang the background vocals on All Night Long by Lionel Richie. That “all night” part.
I had no idea until a few weeks ago.
