Constantly touring, new music, 3/5 original members, and still sound great. Let's give it up to the mighty Tesla.

They are truly exceptional, and I agree that they still sound amazing. It's remarkable that they continue to release new music and tour.

Agree for the most part - there aren't many doing it better.

However, a band like Winger is miles ahead (get it?). All original members, better music, and Kip doesn't sound like Eric Cartman live. Firehouse was too, until CJ passed.

Tesla has a far better discography than winger.

Tesla audience left them for Pearl Jam around 1995
Pearl Jam audience got more dumb and more smelly..same in 2025

Tesla truly is garbage compared to something like Asphalt Ballet “Hells Kitchen”

Winger is not all original members, but it is 3/4. They do still sound good. Arguably, their later records are better than the first 3-album run. And "Seventeen" was truly dire.

The regular touring lineup is Kip, Reb, Paul, Rod, and John Roth. That's all 4 plus a guy who's been with them since 2006. (Reb does go elsewhere sometimes.)

TF? Seventeen was about the best thing they ever did. Yeah the lyrics are sus, but that's looking back 35 years. Reb smokes on that solo.

They’ve managed to cross cultures. They can do the 80s thing on a package tour but they also have the Skynyrd vibe when they do headline shows.

Seventeen is BY FAR the worst of their big songs. Cringe and not even that good a melody. Madeleine was 3 times better, and Headed For a Heartbreak 10x better (mainly due to the Allan Holdsworth-type solo). Seventeen was just god-awful.

So was every Slaughter album.

And most Warrant.

You could easily see the end of the metal movement in sight when things like that started becoming hits. I'll give Warrant props for Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was a good tune.

Not that I disagree but at least they had rock hits. When the only hits a hair band could get were ballads - looking at you Extreme, Saigon Kick, Mr Big - it was over. Or maybe Beth all over again.

I don't like a lot of power ballads from that era. (Truly hate Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing" and whatever was Warrant's first big ballad.

But honestly, I like "More Than Words," "Love Is On the Way," "To Be With You," and Winger's "Headed For a Heartbreak." Four of the best rock ballads ever done. Red Hot Chili Peppers had a hit around this time with "Under the Bridge," and I think it crossed into the same vein. (Well, something went into a vein with those guys . . .)
