Every time I see/hear Butch's name come up, I keep thinking of some awards show (VH1, MTV or something) in the mid-2000s where joined some band on stage for a cover of Lep's "Photograph." I forgot who the band was, bunch of clean/pretty boys that was the style then. I can't find the video for the life of me but I remember it was a pretty good cover and that Butch's mic might have been the only live one for harmonies.

It was American Hi Fi or All American Rejects, one of the two.

I was a big Southgang fan and also a fan of Jonathan Daniel’s bands Electric Angels, Candy and The Loveless.
Amazing to see they are working together in what seems like another life!
Both guys reinvented themselves and found monstrous success. I’m happy for them.
Great interview. Probably the most Butch has talked about Southgang ever in an interview!

Best thing this dude has ever done was being in
Love Ain’t Enough video
That’s his legacy-blah blah “hit records” blah blah garbage solo CDs blah blah boringASS solo tours blah blah
Love Ain’t Enough is his legacy
Only thing he ever thinks about was time he was on covers of Metal Edge and all high school cheerleaders(female) loved him….blah blah 2024 Walker ha ha

Thanks for posting this. I love that Butch has opened up more about the early days and I love that Beato did an interview with him. Phenomenal.

Watched all 2 hours of it yesterday, great interview. I appreciate that RIck lets the conversation breathe and allows the artist talk at length.
If you follow Butch you've probably heard a lot of these stories already but it's still worth watching.

Would love to see Butch record a Jonathan Daniel song or one they wrote together! Two of my all time favorites would be cool working together! Great interview!

Be interesting to see how many views this ends up with. 300k to 2 million is the typical swing with some monsters like Sting going well over. I'm guessing this will top out around 400k. Place your bets.

I love Butch Walker and I love Desmond Child. But I gave Southgang another spin today and it's just not very good.

I saw him at the local coffeeshop a couple times a few years ago. He’d ride his motorcycle there. Chatted a minute about our first meeting. He invited me to hang at a bar after Left of Self Centered show. That was a fun night. We are the same age. Super nice dude.

Always loved Butch and this is a great interview. Finally got to it yesterday. Someone who doesn’t gatekeep and gets that a good song is a good song.
Also random but he and Josh Freese have eerily similar conversational styles in their interviews with Rick.
