From Mentors' Facebook:

It's with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eric Carlson. Eric was fondly known as Sickie Wifebeater, a founding member of the musical trio Mentors. He passed this evening 11:43 est, succumbing to a year long battle with cancer. Eric will be missed by those who loved him. His musical legacy will out live us all.

R.I.P. Sickie, I got to see the man live with the band, fortunately.

Mentors were legendary. He was actually a really great player in spite of the tongue-in-cheek image of the band. The latter-day singer Marc "Mad Dog" DeLeon has been posting on my KISS remix stuff and loves it. He even asked if I'd like to work on some Mentors remixes or something along those lines. I told him I'd love to but the downside is that I couldn't tell anyone I know about it, haha

I wonder what the musical ownership situation of the old stuff is with El Duce and now SW gone?

R.I.P. Sickie Wifebeater. I hope he died doing what he loved. Beating his wife.

I don't know who owns it, but Dr. Heathen Scum has re-released some of the old stuff (El Duce's also). I bought some records from the gig. It was nice talking to him, no one else from the audience recognised him. I think Mad Dog was also there, but as a roadie, didn't sing at all- Heathen did. Sickie was hung over, until the gig.

To Answer a few questions.

Dr. Heathen Scum is in fact a Dr. He has a Ph.D in engineering.

As far as I know Dr. owns everything. He has digitized the entire Mentors catalog. In addition he has El Duces drum kit. He Also has a nice guitar collection.

Dr. Wrote a book about the Mentors and El Duce. Duce was his best friend.

They made some really so bad they are good home videos you can buy from Dr.

Email Dr. For a complete list and prices.

Everybody knows that El Duce was silenced before he could tell the truth about Kurt Cobain's death.

The Mentors doc (that’s on Tubi) is really entertaining.

Guys, stop with the "better than Ace" schtick already. I know 50 guys no one ever heard of that are technically better players than Ace ever was but not one of them was Ace Fucking Frehley.

They weren't Sickie Wifebeater either.
