Why did we never talk about Redd Kross?

New album's all bangers; going to see the doc next week.

For all the Jellyheads here (Jellyfisherman?), I don't recall Redd Kross coming up.

Axl stole their moves. NIKKI SIXX stole their moves!!

They used to prank call people in the industry and say they were Michael Sweet or Bret Michaels. That's very funny.

Redd Kross: Good band.

I don't remember ever hearing "Annie's Gone" at the time--did it make any waves? Maybe in L.A.?

I think it's a catchy song. Big chorus, intro sounds like a Home Depot ad--all the ingredients.

Great band, I have all their records, except the latest (yet). Shame they didn't come here on this tour, only to Stockholm, which is often the case.

There's a documentary about them coming out. Or already out? Anyway, there is one.

I started seeing them in the eighties. Good ol' Satan's Chicken turned me on to them.

My favorite thing was that they did these medleys of just weird shit, liiiike, they would start with a Beatles song off Abbey Road, which would morph into something from Jesus Christ Superstar, then a TV theme like Good Times...amazing musicianship.

...and they rocked the fuck out. It was a great but deeply weird mix. https://youtu.be/lcjW5KVh1x4

My other favorite Redd Kross thing was that the bass player did a thing where he recorded bass on the entire White Stripes Redd Blood Cells album, and released it as "Redd Blood Cells", even photoshopping himself into the cover.

It's super good. I used to listen to his version instead of the original because I liked what he did with it so much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW1xVMK ... =MadHatter

All I remember about them was that RAD MTV ad they did with the Bangles.

The video was on the MTV & Boston radio played it a bunch. I remember them having a 70's look.

Been a fan for years and was glad to finally see them live a few months before everything shut down and they were great. Since both bands had the same rhythm section, they were touring with the Melvins, so we didn't get a full headlining set, but at the end of the show everyone from both bands got onstage and played "Deuce," which was cool.

Always liked their theme to the Spirit of 76 movie the McDonald brothers were in. Their lead guitarist does a good job of imitating Paul Stanley's voice on it.

Got the Redd Kross bio book for Christmas. Liked the stories about pranking their record company pretending to be Michael Sweet and CC DeVille.

Haven't gotten the book yet (ordered, but all sold out!) but I'm sure the story about them pranking Courtney Love is in there. They ended up with the same management as Nirvana but still couldn't get an opening gig because Courtney blacklisted them for being mean to her.

Redd Kross are one of those bands that I should absolutely love. retro. melodic. good songwriting.

but I only like them.

they have a solid discography ("Third Eye" would be my favorite release), but I can't say that I would put any of their albums in my Top 100, much less my Top 10.

it's definitely not for lack of giving them a chance.

For me, Phaseshifter was their best album. Kick ass beginning to end. I was shocked that this tune/video didn’t make them huge.

I know very little of Red Kross other than the Melvins connection. On a side note, I was watching a documentary on the LA band Sparks and was surprised to find the Red Kross bassist did a 2 year stint with them (2006-2008). At some point in 2008 they performed 21 full albums in 21 days live in London, England. A different album every night. That is quite the accomplishment no matter what band it is.

I saw then open up for STP in 1994. I didn't know much about them, but I thought they were really good live. That was a great tour for them to get the opening slot, as STP was huge, but it didn't seem to do much for them career wise as I don't think I ever heard another thing from them after the show I saw.

This band was always referenced in rock magazine articles about Jellyfish, Teenage Fanclub, Big Star, etc., but never in articles of their own.

Great band! Not into their early punk stuff but Teen Babes and everything after is great.

Switchblade Sister is an all time great rock single. Shoulda been a big hit https://youtu.be/gXRrlpWds8k?si=WjSfPQsO_NNi0ILR

The funny part is that after that tour, STP put out the single Big Bang Baby which sounded exactly like Redd Kross.
