holy hell!! Sprained his ankle and turned into sepsis, not sure how common that is but that is some serious shit!!

Maybe he was continuing to drum while injured and that irritated it? (he's a double kick guy, right??)

Seems to be a thing here in Sweden, I know two guys who got sepsis after minor injuries and barely survived.

One of them died last year from a totally unrelated freak accident - his house burned down for unknown reasons when he was home alone and asleep.

I'm wondering if he had some other low level infection or something going on, and when it started to swell, he couldn't tell anything was wrong initially because he thought it was just from the sprain.

Never heard of anyone getting sepsis from a sprain, but I guess he's a rock and roller in his 60s, so who knows what his body's been through.

These fucking drummers. I always confuse Mikkey Dee with Johnny Dee.

It's hard to do, but it's possible. The problem is that sepsis is usually an immune response to a bacterial infection, and a sprained ankle normally isn't an open wound situation where outside bacteria will cause an infection.

So it's pretty much certain that either the sprain somehow included an open wound, or he had an active infection somewhere else and the inflamed tissue around the sprain became a flashpoint.

Glad he's recovering.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to when I said he had a low level infection somewhere. With him being old, God only knows what was flowing around.
