Kind of a vague post, but I suspect Chip is not a fan? That's risingfarce's territory right there!

I like some of their stuff more than some of their other stuff.

I prefer "modern Aerosmith"......IMO, Permanent Vacation, Pump, Nine Lives and a Greatest Hits of the 70's stuff is all you need.
Favorite songs:
Draw the Line
Let The Music Do The Talking
Hangman Jury
F.I.N.E
Cryin'
Full Circle

Big fan! I was feeling melancholic about their hard FIZZLE.

True. MFAD was a pretty low point for them to go out on, even if I do enjoy the singles a bit.

I don't know that I've ever heard any of the songs from that album.
Actually, scratch that, I guess I heard Freedom Fighter when I saw them in 2014, but I wrote that off as some Joe Perry solo song that I wasn't familiar with, I didn't realize it was actually from that album.
I didn't realize that was the last time they played Chicago, but I guess since then it was all B markets, Europe and the residencies.
Probably a good thing the Peace Out tour got cancelled, because they were ON FIRE that show, and I'm sure it would have just been a let down after that.

The first 5 records are the best. I also like the next 3, although I get why a lot of people may not. I love the Joe Perry stuff from around that time, as well. Permanent Vacation, Pump & Get A Grip all seem like one big record to me. I couldn't tell you what song is from what record but they had a ton of popular stuff, for sure. Somehow, I ended up with a cd of Nine Lives in my car. Excellent record, great setlist for the tour. I couldn't tell you about the last 3, I should check them out at some point.

Agree with VVV/Gaz here. Every single track on
Toys... and
Rocks is an absolute banger.

No, that was at Tinley with Slash. Pretty sure that was Slash's last tour before G'N'R reunited.

Self-proclaimed or not, they ARE the greatest American Rock n' Roll Band of all time. Their 70's stuff is absolutely untouchable, and there's actually a ton of songs that are totally unique and special. Their late 80's and 90's stuff is obviously different from their 70's output, but just as great for different reasons. For fuck's sake, a bunch of late-40 year olds were kicking ass at a time when Nirvana was changing rock n' roll. They stayed not only together, but relevant for over 50 years in a way that very, very few bands have managed to do. Pretty fucking incredible.

Right? It's not like Taylor Swift is gonna have Mark Farner come do a song with her...but Tyler makes the cut.
If Aerosmith had gone down in a plane crash in '79, they would be undisputed legends.
As it is, they still are, but it's hard to get past the later gloss sometimes.

Only because the drugs had taken their toll on ‘Smiff at the time. I love VH and consider those Roth-era albums to be absolute stone cold classics, but even then
Toys…,
Rocks and everything Aero put out from PV through
Nine Lives at least are still better by a country mile.

Get Your Wings and Rocks will always be in my top 10 of favorite albums. There's just something about them... perfect hard rock with just enough twisted to it.
