BON JOVI announce reissue and expanded Deluxe Edition of SLIPPERY WHEN WET

Post by SexxAtraxxion »

https://consequence.net/2025/01/bon-jov ... e-edition/
Bon Jovi have announced a vinyl reissue and deluxe expanded edition of their seminal 1986 album Slippery When Wet, arriving February 28th via Island/UMe.

Two vinyl pressings will be available, including a highly collectible liquid-filled disc limited to 1,300 copies worldwide ($99), as well as a picture disc limited to 1,500 copies ($39.98). In addition, a cassette reissue is also being released, with the tape and vinyl pressings containing only the original album tracks.

Meanwhile, a deluxe expanded 2-CD and digital edition includes the original album on Disc 1, plus a bonus disc featuring an acoustic version of “Wanted Dead or Alive,” remixes, and previously unreleased live recordings from the 1987 “Slippery When Wet Tour.”

Slippery When Wet stands as Bon Jovi’s most successful and best-selling album, having been certified 12-times platinum. The 10-song tracklist features three of the band’s staple tunes: “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “You Give Love a Bad Name,” and the western-inspired power ballad “Wanted Dead or Alive.”

While singer Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal issues have kept the band from touring in recent years, the band is still going strong nearly four decades later, coming off the 2024 release of their latest album Forever. A Hulu docuseries about the band was also released last year.

Below you can see the Slippery When Wet picture disc, liquid-filled vinyl disc, and deluxe CD edition, plus the full expanded edition tracklist. Pre-order via Bon Jovi’s online store.

Meh. I liked the New Jersey deluxe with the demos, extra tracks and the videos. But that was more than a decade ago, they should've done Slippery and the other albums then.

I mean, the title of the album is Slippery When WET. I'm sure audiophiles are going to bitch something fierce, though.

At least they were smart and used live tracks from 1987 for the deluxe edition.

Wow, I can't believe that was 10 years ago already! I like those songs but was underwhelmed with the quality. The box set was all cleaned up. The New Jersey deluxe set sounded like cassette tape transfers!

Seems like they put even less effort into this one! They didn't even add Edge of a Broken Heart!

Is that the only outtake from Slippery? Or are there others? I would imagine there are more songs from before they called Desmond Child in.

I accept that for the rest of my life, the only music marketed towards me will be deluxe anniversary editions with every album getting dusted off every 5 years for REMASTERED ULTIMATE DELUXE SUPERBOXES.

Which is cool, I like hearing new old stuff but what grinds my gears is when they have nothing in the vaults so they pad the discs with random live tracks that diehard fans will listen to maybe once.

"Oh shit, the March 18th, 1987 live version of 'Wild in the Streets'?? Take my money!," said no one.

At least there are random live tracks on cd and streaming. Liquid filled splatter coloured special limited deluxe vinyl in lenticular cover without a single bonus track is the ultimate cash grab. How many buyers do even play the vinyl?

The only tracks worth putting on a reissue or deluxe edition are cleaned up demos and unreleased tracks. No one cares about some random live versions.

They forgot these

Bon Jovi - Sessions from the Vault Disc Three Unreleased Demos liberated boot

This disc is the legendary Basement Sessions where Jon and Richie holed up in
the Sambora family basement to write songs for the upcoming album, Slippery When Wet.
These are very raw tracks with minimum input by the rest of the band.

01 Stand Up
02 Deep Cuts the Knife
03 Wild in the Streets

13 Wanted Dead or Alive

Bon Jovi Slippery Rehearsal Demos

These are the second set of demos from Slippery When Wet. These demos show
the band rehearsing songs for Slippery before laying down the production
demos to take into the studio with the producer. Some feature one really
loud instrument with everything else quieter in the background, others are
more balanced. A very interesting glimpse into the creative process.

04 Borderline
05 Social Disease
06 Livin' on a Prayer
07 Edge of a Broken Heart

10 Raise Your Hands #1
11 Raise Your Hands #2
12 Never Enough

Bon Jovi Sessions From the Vault Disc #5
Slippery When Wet Studio Demos
This disc contians the polished studio demos that the Jersey Boys took with them to the studio to begin recording the epic Slippery When Wet with thier producer. All are different from the final versions and fun to listen to with decent audio quality.

01, You Give Love a Bad Name
02, Without Love
03, Wild in the Streets
04, Wanted Dead or Alive
05, Raise Your Hands
06, Never Enough
07, Edge of a Broken Heart

They should have included the 1989 MTV awards performance, as that is the best version of Livin' On A Prayer/Wanted Dead Or Alive [in my opinion]

I only care about the live versions and they should have included a full show or a full shows worth at least. Don't care about demos or remixes or vault trax.

How many tunes did they album-quality record that didn’t make the album, like Edge of A Broken Heart?

These types of releases are cash grabs. There is often nothing rare or special about them. Boring.

The only one I've enjoyed in the last 5 years was Rick Springfield, who did a live re-record of Working Class Dog from his house. It was a Live at Daryl's House set up, and they ripped out the tunes. Of course, Rick can still sing.

JBJ HAS to have more he could have done with this release. It's lazy.

That live version has been around since the tour.. A good portion of the show was broadcasted on FM Radio that tour..That show has been widely available since then.. i am sure the quality of this will be a bit better than original radio broadcast.. here is a link to it and setlist. Great show if you don't have it. Would be nice if they just release the whole thing with the other 4 songs they left out.
