Would have been better if it included time traveller and sword & stone instead of two of the lesser songs on the album (when your walls come down and my way).
Still a good pop metal album though!

I like to listen to this when Unskinny Bop is to edgy and heavy for me to handle.

I played this song to my teenage kids and had them read the lyrics. This part they both were like "this is complete dog $hit!
Hey, the sun goes down like a bad, bad dream
You're wound up tight, gotta let off steam
They say they can break you again and again
If life is a radio, turn up to ten
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights!
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights!

I txt my buddy this same thing who is a KISStard and he said "Listening to KISS lyrics for substance is like paying a hooker for a conversation on foreign policy, doesn't make any sense"

I'll fight hell to Hold You, Reason to Live, Turn on the night are all fairly decent songs. Sound is terrible. Might be the only album I can't get all the way through.
The Creatures to Asylum run was pretty solid, but this put the brakes on that

In my bottom 4 KISS albums (along with Carnival of Souls, Gene Simmons solo, and Peter Criss solo).

I COMPLETELY understand not liking Crazy NIghts/Hot in the Shade. However, I still enjoy them for what they are.
Having said that, I can't remember the last time I listened to either all the way through.

Not the best KISS album but a good time capsule of the early 80s from a 70s band. And, nostalgically, it brings back good memories of college and a road trip to the show (I think White Lion opened). Liked the GIANT KISS logo.

I think it was the first time Gene gave us "Destroyer meets Creatures of the NIght."

"the sun goes down like a bad, bad dream"
What the actual fuck is that, and how could a guy with hundreds of songs already written (and professional songwriting partners) let that one go out unchecked??
And what does it mean?? Is the daytime the bad dream, because we live for the crazy nights? Even that doesnt make sense. Is it sunset that's the bad dream?
Maybe Paul coulda said "The sun goes down like when Im with the football team" Why am I having to do his work for him?

Maybe, but Paul said similar things about Asylum. He also compared Animalize to Destroyer and some other album, but not Creatures. It was still seen as a bomb in 1984.

I mean, wasn't this the album of Paul " Foot thing/twinkle toes" Stanley wearing those sweet Nike velcro shoes that go up his leg?

One of the thinnest sounding albums you’ll ever hear. Being said, it’s just pure, poppy KISS cheese and it’s a fun listen.

Except that it came out in 1987.
I like it. Crazy Nights is a good video and a great song. As is Reason To Live. Turn On The Night is a pop masterpiece, and I don't care what anyone says to contradict that. It is a GREAT song.
I'll Fight Hell... Paul's got his balls in a vice for that one. Bang Bang You. Hell Or High Water. Good Girl Gone Bad. Thief In The Night. All quality pop metal works. It's a good album overall.

Turn On The Night is one of their best but I think Diane Warren wrote 99.9% of it.

It sucks but it's friggin' Destroyer next to Hot in the Shade.
As a goopy 80's pop rock song, "Turn on the Night" is fine and I like "I'll Fight to Hell to Hold You."
"Reason to Live" is fine. I think it would've worked better on the Karate Kid Part II soundtrack.
My first Kiss album! When I saw the "Cray Cray Nights" video, I was like "I have to have this tape."
Narrator: "He did not need to have this tape."

Especially as it cost quite a bit for those crazy nights videos. How much pocket money allowance was that!

Yeah. My bad. High school was early 80s. College
Was late 80s. I was remembering seeing a pre-release ad in Metal Edge or something during college and messed up my years.

It’s one of my favorite KISS albums. Reason to live is a great song and video. Just wish the 3 videos were different.

Couldn't guess the last time I listened to it all the way through. Some decent, poppy metal tunes on it, but overall not that good of a record. And a nosedive from what was a good run of albums beginning with Creatures.

I don't read too much into this album, I mean they hired Desmond Child and Ron Nevison to make them sound like Bon Jovi and they did. Sword And Stone would have been a good addition but probably wouldn't have helped sales. There was a group of demos on YT that I really liked especially of Crazy Nights and Turn On The Night, less keyboards and whatnot, it's worth a look if you like this album.

You must not have been there then. This type of take is nothing but long after the fact revisionist history. The song was a completely watered down derivative version of many other much better songs that were released around the time.
It's easy to look back 38 years later and proclaim something great without any of context and understanding of why it was a completely insignificant song at the time.

Same. Taken for what they are, CN and HITS are both solid hair metal albums, even if they are blatant attempts at copying Bon Jovi. 70’s Kiss purists definitely won’t love them, of course.

They're the two worst albums in the KISS catalog (SB/Monster are just them ripping of their past so they don't even count).
I will say at least CN sounds somewhat like KISS (watered down), unlike the vast majority of HITS which desperately needed a producer, better songs and significant editing.

Hot in the Shade is full of questionable choices.
Always thought the intro to "Read My Body" sounded a lot like Tito Santana's ring entrance music.
