I stopped visiting the board over the last 3 months or so, and logged back in a week or two ago cuz I am behind a desk all day and don't mess with other social media. Seems like the wrong move. Too many know-it-alls.

Yes, ironic. But to take a username as a profound statement of one's personality is presumptive. The main point was I'm old. I care about a lot of things. I have a family, grown kids, a first granddaughter who is 1½, I mostly don't care about my job anymore but slog through it. I really don't care about hair bands anymore or 80% of the threads on this board but it's a decent time waster sometimes. Guess I should have given a lot of deep thought to a meaningless nym.

That's been a 20 year ordeal. OCD (not the handwashing/knock on the fridge 5x kind), anxiety and depression. Lost my first wife to cancer 24 years ago with a 3 year old son. That began a journey. TMI, but whatever.

Edit to say that I know and empathize that many over the years on the board have also gone through hard shit. Though I now have my own thread. It isn't all about me, and I understand that. Everyone is going through something, as they say.

Despite cruising through school and college and being decently successful in my career (weird bc I hate my career), my mouth always got me in trouble at least through junior high. Call it passion or call it being a jerk - the result is the same. 99% of the time I post here, I'm at work, and I fucking hate most everyone I work with. Like truly hate. They're assholes. I worked at couple of other IT shops where the people were fantastic, but I wanted out for other reasons. I hate this place, but it pays very well, and I've got less than 4 years to go, so hanging in there.
