DLR headlong M3?

Whoa, I wonder what vaudeville/ Vegas nightmare show he’s planning to bring.

He could barely sing pre-Covid. This will be interesting!

I'm usually the resident "M3 lineup = lazy" hater, but this is far more adventurous and newsworthy than usual. Guess they had to reach into their box of tricks now that Kix threw in the towel. Still wish they'd throw a bone to at least one band who formed this century, though.

However, Def Lep and Motley (plus Alice and Bret and Night Ranger) playing the other MD festival still makes this one seem small-time by comparison.

EEAS band reunion. All EEAS + Skyscraper + classic VH set.

Don't take this as fact or even rumour but they did attempt this once (cancelled), and what else would it take to get him out of retirement after five years for ONE show?

I think he's got something to prove after Sammy has been running his mouth for a year.

Vai seems like he's too busy with other projects to bother.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

My guess is it'll just be the same guys he was playing with when he was opening for KISS before Covid. That was a pretty tight group.

What's to prove? The largest concert market is nostalgia... someone threw money at him and he said yes.

If you think Roth, is bringing ANY member of that EEAS lineup, you would 100% wrong. Never happen.

Also... if it was to ever happen... it would be "promoted" as such, to ensure the biggest surge of ticket sales.

And that my friend, is not going to happen at this event. Zero, and I mean ZERO chance.

""""""""""""""what else would it take to get him out of retirement after five years for ONE show?"""""""""""""""

A LOT of money... and they paid him dearly... and Dave will keep it ALL, and bring 3-4 pro level (mainly nameless) players.

Nothing else... it's ALL about Dave!

Weird that Bach and a support band are the only acts on the Friday - more to be announced perhaps?

I wouldn't be surprised if Roth sings to backing tracks and doesn't even bother with a band. Expect the bluegrass version of Jump and jazz hands.

Actually, you could not be more wrong!

Did you look at the article?

I went and dug it up... it was usually a minimum of 4 bands, and often it was 5 or 6, sometimes 7 and once I found was 8!

-----------------------------------------
Over the years, just at a glance, Friday Night was always coined the official Kix-off Party, and here is who supported on those 5, 6 & 7 band bills.

In the past, you got any variation of the following, all for your Friday night show to start the weekend.

Kix w/ Loverboy, Winger, Faster Pussycat, Dangerous Toys, Lita Ford (Acoustic), Baton Rouge & Station
Kix w/ Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Lynch Mob, Britny Fox, Enuff Z’Nuff, Gabbie Rae & 86 Bullets
Kix w/ Slaughter, Heaven’s Edge, The Iron Maiden’s (Female Tribute) & Fireworks
Kix w/ Night Ranger, Enuff Z’Nuff, In the Pink (Tribute) & Let There Be Rock (Tribute)
Kix w/ Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Y&T, Faster Pussycat, Nelson & PBF
Kix w/ W.A.S.P., Danger Danger & Bad Seed Rising
Kix w/ Dokken, Quiet Riot, Trixter & Dio’s Diciples
Kix w/ Lizzy Borden, Doro & Count’s 77
Kix w/ Warrant, L.A. Guns & JetBoy
--------------------------------------------

Steve Vai is performing in Argentina on the same day Roth is headlining M3, so he's out. He's also spending most of the summer in Europe touring with Satriani. So if Roth is doing any more shows this summer, Vai certainly isn't a part of it. Nor is John 5 because he's got his Motley commitments. Roth is just gonna have some hired gun who can do the parts justice and not take any attention off him.

I remember seeing DLR in the early 2000s and at the time thinking how bad he sounded singing Van Halen, but looking back on those shows now on You Tube, he sounds amazing compared to how he sounded in 2015, and then the Vegas shows after that. I would love to think he could pull it off like Sammy does now, but that just isn't the case. There's a 0.1% chance he surprises us all and sounds decent and doesn't embarrass himself.

Club shows with John 5 on acoustic would be ideal. Will never happen.
