CLASSIC AMERICAN DEATH METAL

I love all the old stuff but I think I might hand it to Deicide for the demonic vocals. I remember a couple albums back, there weren't any shrieks in the mix and I was like "What the hell is the point of Deicide now?" Gotta shriek, boys.
Trey from Morbid is a wet-brained Trumpie now, which I kinda love for him (feels appropriate and right), but watching them circle the drain has been a real bummer. Crazy when I'm actually recommending people see I Am Morbid instead.
Yeah, I probably missed a couple. Me, personally--I like Vital Remains. Acheron was cool. A lot of good stuff from the former United States.

Ahhh, a poll I can finally sink my carnivorous teeth into!
Voted for Morbid Angel cuz I love most of their stuff, the last album sucked though. Yes, I even dig Illud Divina Insanus or whatever it's called.
I'll even rank my favorites from the US bands:
1. Morbid (at his best, Trey was a fucking genious)
2. Cannibal (the Barnes-era was too primitive for me, Corspegrinder-era is tha shiznit)
3. Suffocation (Despise the Sun is ear candy)
4. Deicide (Stench of Redemption and To Hell with God are amazing for latter albums!)
5. Angelcorpse (why aren't they in da poll?! The Inexorable is tits, front to back. Yup, them's big ass tits)
6. Malevolent Creation
7. Death (killer band but they got too proggy in the end for me)
8. O Bitch You Hairy
9. Disgorge (their official cover band - To Violently Vomit - is playing this Friday, but it's way out in the ghetto, gonna pass even tho they're a great bunch of dudes)
10. Cannabis Corpse

No Death = no Florida scene, no Morrisound, Sepultura wouldn't necessarily have been as big as they became, etc etc.
Obituary are a close 2nd even though they gave me permanent tinnitus.
Never listened to Deicide BITD for some reason but I tried the first album recently and just laughed. Glen was better for his 'controversial' interviews. "We don't like flying, it takes us too close to heaven".
Haven't heard all the rest but the 1st Atheist album was excellent. I'll add Massacre and Nocturnus - were they really the first to mix keyboards with death metal?
I'm sure Ham Stroker will be along soon to tell us all the above were commercial sell-outs and list 20 demo-only bands that he thinks were much better
Also, Malevolent Creation turned out to be racist scum so fuck them.

Chuck Schuldiner and Death, baby! They were there first, and “Lack of Comprehension” is a classic extreme metal tune. Obituary’s “The End Complete” and Morbid Angel’s “Rapture” are good, too.

Death, then Cannibal (mostly with Fisher), Morbid Angel and Obituary. I am a fan of those bands. Immolation and Incantation I like in small doses. Never got into Suffocation, Deicide and Malevolent Creation, although I own some of their albums. Atheist I liked a lot but I haven't heard an album in at least decade, will spin Piece of Time today.
