Kid Rock Storms Off Stage Because People Won't Clap

Post by LitaStrauss »

I'm not a fan of the term snowflake, but this is 100% snowflake behavior. How fitting.

https://consequence.net/2025/02/kid-roc ... -clapping/ - article

Kid Rock cut short a performance in Nashville when the audience didn’t clap enough, leading to a petulant outburst from the “American Bad Ass.”

The most awkward part is that it wasn’t even Kid Rock’s own show: He was appearing as a special guest at the birthday bash for Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan, which was being held Saturday (February 8th) at Jon Bon Jovi’s bar in downtown Nashville.

Rock’s appearance came during a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary.” As seen in audience footage, Rock, who sounds like he may have enjoyed a few adult beverages, momentarily stopped the performance due to the lack of participation from the crowd. He didn’t like the fact that they weren’t clapping along.

“Fuck them. Fuck them. Hey, hey, stop,” he said as he lightly shoved aside a female singer of the band, which included David Bryan himself, before demonstrating what he wanted the crowd to do. “If you ain’t gonna clap, we ain’t gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.”

A few people proceeded to clap along when the band resumed, but only briefly. At that point, Rock had had enough.

“You know what, fuck y’all,” he said. “You ain’t gonna clap, I’m gone.” He then stormed off the stage.

Perhaps Kid Rock didn’t realize he was a guest performer and that the audience wasn’t there to see him? The band was certainly taken aback, with Bryan shooting a confused look at the audience after Rock’s departure. The “Bawitdaba” singer didn’t return for the remainder of the show, which apparently went on smoothly from there.

Meanwhile, Rock will return to the stage in front of his own fanbase in April for his “Rock the Country” co-headlining tour fest with Nickelback.

Both him and runner-up Ted Nugent seem to know this.
That's why they went all political while they still had some semblance of a career.

Nugent is absolutely talented. The problem is he's a nitwit with an ego. I despise hit political nonsense, but the dude can fucking play a guitar.

I will add Kid Rock might be a moron when it comes to his stupid right-wing crap worrying about transgender beer cans, but the guy can put on a show. I haven't been in a few years, but I have seen him a number of times and it was always a great night. He also seems sincere when thanking people for spending their money coming out to see him.

I think it would be amusing if trans people, gays, muslims, etc, all just chanted "Aint no........body gonna tell me how to live!" as their new slogan.

Agreed. I saw him in 2013, before he started all his Republican nonsense. He does put on a great show, but I was blown away by his openers, Kool & The Gang !!

Yes, but his best guitar work was when he was running around in a loincloth. In fact, that was his only guitar work that I'm aware of. Well, there was that one Damn Yankee's album, but that was a long time ago too.

I had the same experience being blown away seeing Kool and the Gang open for VH back in 2007. Every song was just the greatest thing you've ever heard. They stole the show.

When I saw him in the Boston area, he brought out one of the guys from Run DMC, Peter Wolf, and Sheryl Crowe (She was the opener if I recall, but came back out to do the song Picture)
The other cool things he did was he had Shriners (or March of Dimes I don't remember) collect money which if I recall 100% goes to charity and he had a ticket and a beer package for $20 or $25 bucks.

I wouldn't go see him today, but I saw that same 2008 Rock N Roll Jesus tour with Rev Run and Peter Wolf (no Sheryl Crow at that show), and it was a fantastic show.

Give zero cents about Kid Dick, however, looks like it made for a cool story to me. "Dude, we went to Bon Jovi's bar and it was some keyboard players birthday party. No fucking idea who the guy was...anyhow, Kid Cock stumbled on stage, like totally unplanned, sang a few verses and then split. We split right after that because we had no idea who anyone was. Who was the birthday guy again?"

I saw Kid Rock at Woodstock 99 and didn't clap. He continued to play.

Can't remember who, but there is a Sludger who is a close family friend of the Bryans. Perhaps he/she can shed some light on what actually happened.

I haven’t been to one of David’s birthday parties in a few years but I do have friends that were at this year’s party. I have t heard a lot of scoop from the event but I can tell you a few things right off the bat.

1. David absolutely wanted Kid Rock to play with the band. It’s all about clout and what he can accomplish without Jon being directly involved.

2. I’m sure Dave is mortified by what happened. Not only did it happen in public where people were filming but it happened at his boss’s bar. And I’m absolutely sure that Jon gave him a ration of shit for letting it happen at his bar.

3. You will never see this incident on TMZ. Jon has them on his payroll so embarrassing thing like this never hit the mainstream media.

With both Kid Rock and Kanye West, it feels like we've been in their "second act of Behind the Music" eras for a very long time.
