Brian Setzer can no longer play guitar
From his X feed:
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to check in with you all. Towards the end of the last Stray Cats tour I noticed that my hands were cramping up. I’ve since discovered that I have an auto-immune disease. I cannot play guitar. There is no pain, but it feels like I am wearing a pair of gloves when I try to play. I have seen some progress in that I can hold a pen and tie my shoes. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I was at a point where I couldn’t even do that. Luckily, I have the best hospital in the world down the block from me. It’s called the Mayo Clinic. I know I will beat this, it will just take some time.
I love you all,
Brian

Fucking hell that's sad. Saw the Stray Cats on their first reunion tour and they were amazing.
Wonder what condition he has? A lot of Auto Immune diseases are perfectly treatable now with biologics.

That is some bad news.
He’s been entertaining us a long time whether with the SC or on his own.
Actually got to see them when they were brand new on MTV with the Bus Boys fresh off their 1 hit song from the 48 Hours soundtrack.
Wish him well in his recovery.

The Stray Cats - June 9 1983 was the first concert i was allowed to go to by myself . I was 12 and it was a life changer for me. It was a 3000 seat hockey arena called the Calgary Corral. A sweaty old barn with great sound and no bad seat in the house. To this day it will always be one of the best shows of my life. The energy they put out was electric . Everyone left soaked in sweat from dancing/ or being crammed onto the seatless floor . I guess i would call it a punk show as the crowd was mostly of that new wave/punk/greaser look. Just an amazing time to be a music fan.
This is close to how i remember it :https://youtu.be/8amgdQe10xM?si=5xBLH1_McfQlfxOo

Re: Brian Setzer can no longer play guitar
I was wondering about this guy on New Years Eve when I turned on the TV and saw Lee Rocker and some random doods doing Stray Cat songs (pretty sure it was Vegas)
This explains it, freakin' bummer!!!

It's good to be bad
It's the best time you'll ever have
What the hell is this ultra sad
Pray for your cool and work on that ass!

More likely along the lines of what Ace Frehley has had for the last several years.Earl Skakel wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:14 pm Could it be something along the lines of what Mark St John had?

However, growing evidence suggests that COVID-19 vaccination may cause new-onset autoimmune diseases, including autoimmune glomerulonephritis, autoimmune rheumatic diseases, and autoimmune hepatitis. Nevertheless, the causal relationship between COVID-19 vaccines and these autoimmune diseases remains to be demonstrated.

Easily one of the greatest guitar players of all time. I hope he improves, not just for that, but for quality of life. What a bummer.

Brian was so good he made me want to quit playing altogether. Stunningly great. Like if you could take the solo to Rock Around the Clock and turn it into a person it would be Brian Setzer. He was that awesome.

In the very same fucking paragraph:
In fact, we believe that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the possible risks and encourage people to get vaccinated.
