I shot a couple Frank Black solo shows a few weeks ago, and had never heard one note of his solo stuff before I did. Now I've done a deep-dive and am pissed I didn't find him a long time ago. Some much fun. Punk-club energy.

My favorite is his live to two track work with the Catholics.

I love the first Catholics album. I think it's his best non-Pixies stuff. Really raw and it rocks.
I love the original Pixies albums. I've seen them three times. First time was in 2005 when they first reunited and Kim Deal was still playing with them. Second and third time with Paz Lenchantin.
I've actually never listened to any of the three new albums other than that one song Paz sang.

I have all the Pixies records and saw them twice last year, but only Frank Black's first record.

This makes me feel so old, I love the pixies and his solo stuff. Some of the coolest girls I met in the 90s loved him and the pixies

Never got into them, not for lack of trying due to some of my friends who loved them.
They were just another indie/alternative band - nothing really stood out or grabbed me.

They definitely have some great songs: "Where Is My Mind", "Gigantic", "Monkey Gone to Heaven", "Here Comes Your Man", "Dig For Fire", etc. One of the all-time Indie/Alt/College Rock greats.
